The 23-year-old had a great season with Free State Stars and was nominated for the Nedbank Cup Young Player of the Tournament. It led to a Bafana call-up, which culminated in him scoring the final goal in the 3-0 win.
“It was great to score, but the most important thing is that I was given a chance to play and I’m thankful for that,” Mashaba tells KickOff.com.
“At training I was combining very well with ‘TK’ [Tokelo Rantie] and [Thulani] Serero and it didn’t come as surprise when we combined well during the match. I’m looking forward to getting more opportunities to play for the national team.
“But there’s no pressure … if I’m called up then I will give 100 percent; if not I will continue doing well for my club.”
Like his teammate Edward Manqele, who is on the radar of many PSL clubs, Mashaba is in no denial that playing for the national team will attract the interest of bigger clubs.
“That is pretty much obvious and there’s no player who doesn’t want to play for bigger teams. We all want to improve our lives. But that’s not up to me; I have a contract with Free State Stars until 2014 and any club that wants me will have to contact my club.” Follow me on Twitter @ZolaDoda

@least Jali showed us glimpses of Tsiki-Tsiki within him ngama tsamaya ame yedwa. mh.
Orlando Pirates has a pre-contract with him
Sundowns is offering 50% extra of what Kaizer Chiefs is offering.
Ahh judging by the way Chiefs is signing players even the average ones, they are bound to fail again next season
That was not even a ''Tsamaya'' ......angazi yini lento bekayenza laphaya.......
Yikaka qha lento bekayenza lenkwenkwe...uqhunyiwe
ag after 2 games and Kompela has shown how unethical he is.
The reason for fielding this boy was to attract the big 3 and up his value. I would be supriced if the owner of FSS made that call.
Steve Kompela must stay as far away from BB as possible.
He scored & he is not to be blamed but I have witnessed this amateurish behaviour causing our teams clear-cut opportunities. Being 1 legged should not mean using it unneccesarily like Shabba. Another leg must be trained to do the basics not just used for walking.
King, I agree with you 100%. We don't need bias, unethical people in the national team.
This guy wasn't making a debut. He played against Botswana as well
The point you are making is valuabale but at the same time you need to take into consideration the type of development structures we have in our country, most of players who are playing in the PSL have never recieved the technical and tactical training received by young players in European countries.
Up until grass root level training is not done correctly we are still going to see a lot of single footed players in this country. Black n Gold kuze kulamule i Godi.
kgona tsa gago, at chiefs we are trying to build a bit stronger team to compete next season going forward, i dont even care what team you support, u sound like a 'pnk'
its obvious that you drank too much zamalek yesterday. I'm sure you ar supporting the BARK_aneers.
