Safa to interview Komphela today

Safa to interview Steve Komphela for Bafana coaching job today

Posted: 18 June 2012 Time: 10:40 am

Steve Komphela's interview with Safa for the Bafana Bafana coaching job takes place today.

Komphela will appear in front of the Safa Technical Committee panel of Fanyana Sibanyoni, the technical committee chair, Safa technical director Serame Letsoaka, CEO Robin Petersen, Jomo Sono, Clive Barker, Farouk Khan, Buti Mathathe and Suoane Ramashala.

The other four candidates for the job – Neil Tovey, Gavin Hunt, Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba and Gordon Igesund – underwent the "gruelling" interview process last Thursday, with Safa reportedly "very happy" with the presentations. Who do you think should get the job? Have your say on our Facebook page!

Komphela oversaw Bafana Bafana's 3-0 victory over Gabon on Friday, in a match he said he would use for "experimenting" with line-ups, and the former national Under-23 coach will hope the positive result will count in his favour.

The Sunday World reported over the weekend that the new Bafana coach will earn roughly half of what Pitso Mosimane was earning – R400,000 to R500,000 a month.

I'm not sure if I should say "Good luck" becuase that would mean I hope you get the post but to be realistic I wish this goes to Gordon Ingesund or Gavin Hunt.

You've had your chance before and I'm not convinced that you can lead us to glory . Thanks for gradding the bull by its horns and coach our national team, while this moegoes(Pitso) was busy with CCMA

everyone to ensure they have their Oxford Dictionaries, even if you are an English man. Especially Nonkonyana he will need it

I would prefer Kompela as Coach and Motivator over Gordon...imargine under Gordon if we dont win plus ugly futbal= firing.

then for the assistance lets have neil Tovey or Farauk Khan

I am 101% sure that Steve will impress on his interview since is so eloquent in expressing himself in English but having a good command of the Queen's language does not make you a good coach,so job will be given Gordon Igesund come rain, come sunshine.

lol, serious and my worry is that it will be difficult to have this queen's language lecture from steve and still evaluate him on the same time. Because in one sentence you are guaranteed three words to search from your dictionary but steve will obviously wont wait for the chief!!

Those politically connected school-bunkers from SAFA will be mesmerised today, they will say yes when they don't understand him. It will feel like Khompela is interviewing them instead of them interviewing him. Bathathe Khompela Bathathe.

So i wish that Gordan get the nod as the assistant all of them have failed dismally on our lower national teams. Then we witness Gordan's 30 years old National Team compete with the rest.

Will SAFA TECHNICAL COMMITTEE UNDERSTAND STEVE? THIS COACH WILL EXCEL IN THAT INTERVIEW, IT WAS GOING TO BE NICE IF THESE INTERVIEWS WERE BROADCAST LIVE SO THAT THE PUBLIC CAN ALSO SEE FOR THEMSELVES

Steven doesnt deserve it. He was there when we draw on our qualifiers. His win is not convincing enough for him to take the helm.

From a political point, Steve stand a good chance, Butana Kompela might play his card here.

From a competency point, Gordon n Gavin stand a good chance.

Mashaba we dont have time to re-cycle failure - Same reason why Pitso was fired. Shakes is big headed.

if you continue to play the way you played on Friday, then SAFA should give you this job. Play more chiefs players, no pirates players like pitso did.

Why did they reduce the salary for a person who is ultimately better than the overrated Pitso who won nothing both as a player and coach- I mean even Neil Tovey won many accolades with Chiefs and Sundowns (league)? They should have increased that for Gordon!

@SisterP: The same Kaizer Chiefs' players who got Pitso and V V fired! The same KC players who led Bafana Bafana to a 10 consecutive winless straek (which is so common at Naturena)! Gordon must take over with Steve Khompela or Neil Tovey as assistant. Jairo Leal must go.

what are you talking about? Gordon can be a assistant referee for all i care. Steve Khompela should get this job and assisted by Gavin Hunt. Gucci Man i have a feeling you are pregnant, you are very angry for a 40 something woman.

Either Gordon or Kompela should be given the job. But my choice is Kompela now. With Kompela firing everything that has to do with orphans like this, I am Definitely sure that BAFANA will do very well. I don't want my Bafana to be associated with SKOP and DONNER and Kompela is giving everyone at the camp and chance to play and express themselves.
