Downs battling Chiefs all the way

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns both want to sign Edward Manqele

Posted: 13 June 2012 Time: 06:28 am

The battle between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns over the services of Edward Manqele is hotting up, with news reaching KickOff.com that The Brazilians have again upped their offer.

According to sources close to the Free State Stars striker, Amakhosi have promised Manqele a R75 000-a-month salary, as well as a R600 000 signing-on fee.   However, so desperate are Sundowns for Manqele that they have reportedly promised to increase the Chiefs offer by 50 percent.   "Chiefs have offered Edward a very, very good contract, but the boy is now confused because Sundowns keep upping their offer as well," our source reveals.   Manqele tells KickOff.com that he will know his future when he returns to the Free State next week.   "I am still in the dark," he tells KickOff.com. "I will know my future with Free State Stars next week Monday, and for now I would rather not comment on which team I prefer to join."

Officially, these sundowns things are Izikhothane for real.To pay more than R4m is even ridioculos for a player at the standard of Manqele. He only has one season on his belt worth of expirience and now this???I hope this boy tells them to Voetsek with thiir Skothane tendency and sign with the rite company who will grow his career.

I blame Patrice Motsepe for the mess we are sitting with the kids in the townships. He is not a good example for this skothane kids. He leads this example by openly burning money. Manqele will just be like an expensive clothing item, be used for awhile and then tossed away like so many promising players before they joined Sundowns.

Eddie mfana wakithi go and check the history of this sundowns they uping this now but they will spit u like a chewing gum once they done with u. Ask Koketso, Tshepo Ramokala just read about Tshepo who was once a star for Platinum stars but he never play as we speak. U have a choice between ur career or short term money. What kind of team who can offer u a contract and when they done with u they ask u to go without paying u a compensation fund and they put a high bid over ur head.

The Siya crew can exclusively reveal that Black Leopards striker, Kingston Nkhatha, will be signing for Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, after the two clubs agreed on a fee of around R3m for him.

Nkhatha was linked with the Amakhosi by the crew a while back and it was always thought that Chiefs would get their man.

The 27-year-old striker is thought to have agreed personal terms with the Naturena-based club a while back, although it has taken until now for the two clubs to come to an agreement.

It is believed that Lidoda Duvha's management turned down an offer of around R2m before finally allowing Chiefs R3m offer to be put through. It was thought that the Zimbabwean was always keen to don the black and gold of Chiefs and Leopards had previously told the crew that they would not stand in the way of any of their players should one of the Big Three come calling.

The former Free State Stars man only signed for the Limpopo-based side back in 2011, however his most recent season saw him find good form in the PSL and Chiefs have jumped at the opportunity to bring him into their ranks.
