Bassey: Eagles will consolidate in Calabar

Charles Bassey said he is happy with the result Nigeria got in Blantyre

Posted: 11 June 2012 Time: 11:03 am

Former Nigeria international Charles Bassey has said that he is happy with the result the Super Eagles got in Blantyre, while noting that the team will consolidate in Calabar in subsequent matches.

Bassey, who is the technical director of Nigeria Premier League side Akwa United, revealed that the 1-1 draw is a good result because it has slowed Malawi down on the league table.   "I am happy with the boys and the result they got against Malawi. When you look at the table you will realize that we are leading on the table and Malawi will also come to Nigeria.   "I am sure that the Super Eagles will consolidate when Malawi come visiting. Malawi held Kenya to a goalless draw in Nairobi, but could not grab their three points against us.   "That means we have an advantage that can be turned into something that will give us the ticket at the end of the qualifiers.   "Nobody should look at this result as a setback because we could have also lost the match. No matter what happens in the game between Namibia and Kenya, we can be rest assured that we are on top of the table.   "All we need to do is to win all our home matches and then get the desired result at away games," Bassey said.

What kind of humans voted in the current sloppy NFF? This is the MAIN problem in Nigeria. Some significant number of us,vote in Incompetence, Tribalism,Fraudsters and then EXPECT our Country to move forwards. An incompetent NFF, will surely appoint a weak coach, whose strongest qualities are being hard-headed and egocentric. HE CONTINUES TO RE-BUILD after 8 months. He should have a look at teams in EURO2012 and tell us how many years they spent "RE-BUILDING" or even CAF teams?

Kola, all your post have everything in them except sense of purpose. Nigeria is one and super eagles is for Nigeria. whether Keshi or Siasia is secondary. If you have problem with siasia, you can take it out personally. You maybe right in all your direct criticism against him, including accusing him of taking bribe from you to play your brother but you may not be wiser than even his immediate predecessor (largaberk) who unequivocally said that considering his instinct on football development, he is the best coach for Nigeria.

whether NFF where right in Choosing him or Keshi is secondary as regards playing good football and getting nice results. You will not argue that Spain played better than Italy yesterday even though they played a draw. That is what we want, win the match decisively or at least play well and not chickening out a draw. Keep on comparing us with Ghana and Cameroon but you bet, both of them put together are not anything close to 160 million people. Make good judgments and not hatred talks. Siasia could have been either your younger or elder brother and so is Keshi. See them as such and argue base on that.

No one seems to be saying or noticing anything about our Jersey. This is the best that the NFF morons can negotiate with Adidas, just look at the rubbish jersey and compare it to the ones teams playing in Euro's tournament with same sponsor are wearing. I will keep saying it, incompetent hands in the NFF are the problem of Nigerian football. They are morons, wicked and they all knows nothing but seems like Nigerians do accept rubbish and can never question a thing. A country of wise men but rule by fools.

Kola i find it a bit disturbing that you channel so much venom towards siasia and i cant help but admit to myself that you and keshi are really threatened by his achievement. I was really happy for keshi when he landed the Togo job and that has been his only football success, He DID NOT lead nigeria to the bronze medal as you claim, Amodu did, keshi was only as assistant, and he did not qualify Mali, he only took them to the tournament. Arsenal qualifies for the champions league every other season but im yet to see uefa give aresene wenger a medal for multiple qualifications.

You obviously dont get why ppl want siasia over keshi, why are they not calling for an amodu, after all he has the touch of qualification. The reason is just simple, we want to enjoy football and not have a heart attack. Amodus problem was the drab style of play, same think keshi seems to be doing. 1-0 myt be good enuff to qualify, but not for a country who has tasted african samba. we were adjudged the most entertaining team in our first worldcup, ahead of brazil and argentina. we won the olympics 2 yrs after, ahead brazil and argentina.. that just what we are saying.

keshi is a good coach, but we dont seem to like his approach. See siasia and keshi like Pepp and Jose Mourinho, both have recorded successes but pepp is the best coach in the world according to the last fifa awards, Why, becos his team plays football just as what it is, Entertainment.

What i want from keshi, win and entertain, I want to watch SE play football with popcorn and juice in my hand and not a doctor close to me. We cant be struggling with Malawi and Namibia and we are going to the wordcup to play the likes of spain and Italy.

Even Keshi admits the team is yet to leave to its potential and that he has a lot of work to do, yet you come here to say diff, even from Keshi himself.

Siasia has also worked with lots of local boys, AhmedMusa, Ekigo, Chibuzor, Gege Soriola, to name a few.
and these guys did not disappoint. I know what keshi is trying to do, He wants to raise his own players and be called Keshis boys, but this boys would fail him, you know why ? cos the motion is built on selfish principle and not National patriotism.

one other thing il give to siasia is 7yrs after U20 2005, 70% of that team are still playing active football and would still play for another 3 yrs meaning he developed a team that would last 10yrs, the last person that did that was fanny Amu with the Japan 93 boys and westerhof. No other Nigerian coach has given us a team that has lasted more than the competition or at least 2-3 yrs after Not even Keshi.

oh may i also chip in that he DID NOT raise the Togo team, he met the team all set, he only lead them, and part of the problems he had with Adebayo was becos Adebayo question his tactics and becos he asked for money from the Arsenal deal.

i dont hate Keshi, but sadly i dont want him to succeed either. The NFF would soon start to put him on pressure.

Build your team during friendlies, but use your best legs for qualifiers, add a few and help them grow.

@ kola (us) it is obvious you did not read TIMMYO's response to the rubbish you wrote about siasia. i believe the reason we have a forum like this is to air views that can move our football foward. but instead you come here and try to run another man down. if you continue with this attitude you will not go far in life oooo. your hatred for siasia is just too strong, how can you hate another man like this. you must be an agent of the devil or devil himself. i am happy you are a yoruba man and you know what ( alaroka ) means. thats just what you are. if he did something to you please sort it out with him like a man and please get the hell out of this forum . you are so annoying and disgusting. if you have children is this the kind of hatred you will teach them? please dont reply and tell me you are saying facts about siasia ooo.because you dont, if you do i trust you must charged him to court by now. all you can do is come to a forum like this under a useless name and run the man down , as much as you have been trying for months to kill his career, people have been going against you in this forum to show you how unpopular you are here. PLEASE take this hatred somewhere else. we really dont need people like you here.........................

I took out my time and pain to do this because of the mixed reactions of fans and supporters alike trailing the performance of our national pride the Super Eagles. as seen above among the top guns only Tunisia and Egypt has a 100% record while others like Ghana, Algeria, Mali and Cameroon failed to top their respective groups.

So in the light of this i would like to call on Nigerians to rally behind the SE and show that we are not just a fare weather fans but a real supporters (in good times and in bad times regardless of who his the coach) of our darling team, to make them regain their FEAR FACTOR once again.

TOGETHER WE WILL CONQUER THE WORLD AND RULE AFRICA AGAIN.

"kola, us" hope u can see and read TIMMY's inputs & comments. I hope u & ur friends can be constructive and give reasonable arguments next time....
To be candid, Sia sia remaining in that position would have been best for us. U guys pressured him to play OVER RATED OSAZE when he actually deserved all the sanctions. NFF and a whole of u people pressured him to play selfish and proudful overated player. Even Lagerback saw same thing and benched him. Osaze ruined our chances at the world cup and also the AFCON. Siasia developed his boys and more than 70% of them(since 2005) are still active. He started to build another set but u guys won't allow him. He scored couple of goals in a single match with football flares.--no HBP. The job was given to him only when Eguaveon had messed us up and he was bold to take on the challenge.... Did he really loose a game???????????
We are in again for amodu-keshi-amokachie hold ya heart in ya hand hypertensive football era...goodluck nija
