Since the suspension of Owen da Gama in March which eventually led to his departure Stars have had Cavin Johnson along with Allan Freese standing in as co-coaches. However, with the new season due to start in August the club must now either let Johnson along with Freese continue or appoint a new man. "Whoever we bring in has to understand our targets and buy into our development plans. Though we want to get the issue of the coach sorted as soon as possible we will not be rushed. We have a huge responsibility to the Bafokeng fans," says Jason Raine, the Stars general manager. Raine adds that they have received an incredible pile of applications from 'almost everywhere', from local based coaches, those in the continent, South Americans and Europeans. KickOff.com has also established that the list of local coaches includes Ian Palmer, Manqoba Mngqithi while the continued presence of Ruud Krol in the country makes him a favourite for the job. "We are yet to finalise the shortlist but we are working on coming up with a shortlist. However, we will have definitely sorted out the issue of the coach by the time we start pre-season," says Raine. Stars will start pre-season training on June 28.
