Kalusha Bwalya dismisses Herve Renard-Bafana link

Posted: 7 June 2012 Time: 04:36 pm

The president of the Zambian Football Association has slammed reports emanating from Zambia that Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard has threatened to quit his job after he was approached by Safa to take over at Bafana Bafana.

Renard, who led Zambia to their first African Nations Cup victory in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea earlier this year, is under contract until 2014, but the media in that country believe that the Frenchman has threatened to walk out on the team.

“Don’t believe what the journalists are saying; these reports are laughable and untrue,” Kalusha Bwalya tells KickOff.com from the team’s camp ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Ghana.

Further reports suggest that Renard is locked in a money dispute with the Zambia Football Association, but Bwalya insists that is not the case.

“Believe me, Renard is happy here and he has a contract until 2014. People must not believe everything that is reported.”

Renard is far from stupidity- he has the most decorated CV in Africa at the moment, why would he want to drain that for a few additional figures by trying to motivate the most unpatriotic human being on the planet? Any coach who will accept a Bafana job clearly values money than integrity- and we know who those are, or have been- Joel Santana and Pitso being the worst of the lot!

SAFA...............Please no fly by night coaches
We have enough fly by night players already in our camp, we need a decent coach...that would put us in a decent FIFA rankings and bring smile to all 48 millions of South Africans .

I think its high tym SAFA appoints someone who is firm n can bring competition amongst players. Wht I have noticed is some Bafana Bafana players are so relaxed knowing that obviously they will b in the first eleven. Gordon won't bring any changes coz his style is similar to Pitsos.

The problem with kalusha is dishonest and He thinks everyone is blind to see his failurers. Renard is complaining of non payment of his salary for six months honest who can work like that and how can Kalusha start claiming that the coach is happy? Be honest Mr Bwalya to save your imagine.

Not in Southern Africa should this be allowed to happen!SA are free to hire any coach in this world but not to put bait on a coach employed by a neighbouring country.Whoever is behind such a shamefull idea at SAFA should be taught a very good lesson about the relations between Governments which a few of you narrow fanatics ignore with stupidity!ZIFA of Zimbabwe did the same to a Sainfeit who was still employed by Namibia,But a Very Thoughtfull Zim Government acted wisely behind the scenes & Seinfeit lost his Job in Namibia & Zimbabwe. Now he is in Nigeria trying to come in through the back door! The bottom line is,We all wont know what made the coach not to take the coching post at SAFA,but he simply wont take it.Southern African Governments will not let a Sporting Body ruin relations over a money hungry European who does not understand African relations!.

I think we dont need this guy since he surprisingly won the AFCON which im definately sure he is not going to defend it.
Steve Kompela is the right man to take us to the promised land since they fired Pitso for no apparant reason as we no that Bafana are like Sundowns or Cosmos as winning is not a norm just playing for fun thats all....

So i dont understand this kak that says; ''Pitso failed us'' as since when after 1996 are we a winning a nation...?

What changes is that pink a.s.s called Gordon is gonna bring to this lazy and ever complaining nation that other coaches failed to achieve....?

LMAO! Hahaha. Hai baba you killed me with that line of we don't pay in kwachas but Rands here in Mzansi. Hehehehe. Tell 'em baba.

But on the real SAFA needs to stop this mickey mouse game now. The obvious choice for the coaching job is Gordon Igesund; simple as that! It's been long overdue and the man has proven himself time after time. And as for those that say Gordon will come with that skop n donder football, it's fine by me and ALL south africans who have the national team at heart as long as it will produce positive results.

Barcelona doesn't always play with flair and so did their national team when they won the world cup. Ethiopia played that skop and donner football and they dictated us with our so-called "African Flair."

At the end of the day, football is not just a sport. It's about RESPECT and only winners are respected and remembered in sport, not failures.

And here's a question to those who question Gordon's international experience. Is every coach's entry level to coach the national team first or is it to coach at club level first? Also, when you start off in a company, do you start off as a CEO or do you start off at junior entry level? Please answer me becos the last time I checked, was that reality says to me one needs to grow to get to the top.

I follow soccer unlike some people who blog here as iziwengu. Coaching a club is much more tougher than coaching a national team. A national team plays on average 7-10 games per year. While a club football team can play 30-50 matches per year. I'd like to quote Jose Mourinho when he was awarded second place for best coach in the world by Fifa in 2010 behind Spain's world cup winning coach Vicente Del Bosque, "It's unfair to say a national team coach is better than a club coach because a club coach has to play at least 50 matches to win three trophies or at least 30 matches to win a league, whilst a natioanl team coach has to play just seven games to win a tournament."

I rest my case my fellow South Africans! Sharp zinto...
