Davids has been in Cape Town for the off-season and he trained at Ajax Cape Town to stay in shape. There was talk of a possible return to Ajax, but it did not materialise despite the interest coming from the side of Ajax and not the player. "I have one year left on my deal (at Lierse) so I am happy to fulfil my contract. But I'd also like to go back and play in Germany, even if it is the second division," Davids told KickOff.com. "The problem is that the market is down all over Europe. Lierse have cut their budget and so my manager (Rob Moore) is looking at options for me abroad. "Look, in my first season at Lierse I played all the games and did really well. But a new coach came last season and he had a new philosophy which was to use young Belgian players. "I believe I was not treated well and deserved more chances. But I also had a personal issue to deal with this season when my dad passed away. "He has always been very supportive of my career so it was a difficult one for me. But I am good now and I just want to go somewhere where I can play regularly."
