The Brazilians reportedly made an unsuccessful move to rope in the Zambian player last season in a two-horse race also involving Ajax Cape Town. Sundowns are said to have recently renewed their interest in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner as they look to mount a serious 2012/13 League title campaign. However, in a chat with KickOff.com, Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Kabelo Mosito insists the five-time League champions are happy with their three goalkeepers – Wayne Sandilands, Calvin Marlin and Dennis Onyango.

The Bafana goalkeeper's agent – Glyn Binkin – is currently negotiating a new deal with Sundowns. Besides, Sandilands, Marlin and Onyango, Mamelodi Sundowns also have within their books Jackson Mabokgwane, who has just completed his one-year loan to Platinum Stars.
