Moroka Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvete was the big winner at PSL Awards

Posted: 28 May 2012 Time: 06:51

Moroka Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvete attributes his success this season to hard work.

Nomvete was the big winner at the 2012 PSL Awards held at Gold Reef City on Sunday night.   The striker went home with four awards after being voted as the PSL Footballer of the Season, PSL Player's Player of the Season, Player of the Season and the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award after his 20 goals.

I will always remain proud of these achievements because it is something will show to my kids after I retire from football," he adds.   At the age of 34, 'Bhele' says he has not made a decision when to retire from football but has words of encouragement to the youngsters.   "I have not yet made a decision when to retire but I guess as long as my legs still carry me I will continue playing. I want to encourage youngsters by saying that as long as you work hard nothing is impossible in life."

@ Diehardbucs, that is the problem with success Buccaneer, too many haters out there. Ntsimbi should have gotten the footballer of the year award, just like Jali last year. Anyway, congrats to Bhele ... at least it was not a Zebra that won :)

Congrats Nomvete, I just don't agree with the PSL Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the Season, Mulenga should have taken the award, Benni should have won it with the brilliant free kick against Swallows.

If Bucs players were so bad as these pig journalists indicate, then where did the treble come from? Can you imagin people like Marawa votting? They said Swallows will win the lig with 3 games to go while wew were leading by 2 points. So if they had to vote this treble could have gone to Swallows. We must ignore this thing and its nothing but a demostration of hatred from Zebra pigs journalists.

it's amazing again that no even a single player from pirates has won a psl award yet we have won the trebble. this thing happened last season as well when Jali was overlooked for Serero, now Sangweni was aslo overlooked for Nomvete. but we know there's too many haters out there, we will keep doing our thing which is to win non stop.. up the bucs...

If Teko was not a deserved Footballer of the Season, why now Nomvethe, who won it under similar circumstances, become a deserved winner. Just asking,Zebras.

if it was up to me, i would advise Pirates players to turn down these PSL awards nominations in the future, cause it serves no purpose to them. south African media hate pirates, but we love our Bucs..

Nomvete has always been the golden boy of S.A football and i'm quite sure that he is going to deliver for Bfana in these coming matches, all i wish is for the Mphelas and Majoros to learn from this living Legend.

Why was Sandilands chose over Josephs
This Nonvethe madala scored easy tap ins and penalties just like cow Majoro did, maybe also Madurex deserves to be voted.

Everything in our league and SAFA is a joke these days.

For me Andile Jali, Oupa Manyisa and Siya Sangweni should have battled it for these awards.

Even our captain Lucky was fantastic this season and deserves recognition

Good for Nomvethe but I wonder why Sangweni was not considered for the Footballer of the Season award.

I'm not a Pirates fan but evereyone can see that these awards are not fair. The people who vote here attach personal interests. I mean there is no way that the treble winning team don't have a winner on these awards. Siyabonga Sangweni deserves footballer of the year because he perfomed well in all four competitions. What did Nomvete do to deserve this?He only perfomed well in the league, Swallows was dissmal in other competitions.Same thing happened with Jali and Serero last year, come on PSL!
