Gavin Hunt lauds the evergreen Sibusiso Zuma

Posted: 27 May 2012 Time: 10:30 am

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has heaped praise on Sibusiso Zuma, saying the player played a pivotal role in the 2-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup Final on Saturday.

Zuma, who turns 37 on June 23, ran the Sundowns defence ragged and even set up Kermit Erasmus' goal, which effectively sealed the tie.

Hunt was pleased with Zuma' contribution in his 79 minutes in the field.

"He only played half the season because he was injured, but you know these Zulus they come back because they are strong … look at Siyabonga Nomvete as well," Hunt quips.

"I thought Zuma was magnificent in the final and he was running all over. We played him on the left side because we didn't have anyone on the left, but still he played very well for us," he continues.

Hunt is also delighted that the Tshwane side will again participate in the CAF Confederations Cup by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup.

"I think that's vital for me as a coach, that's where I want to be and it is where we want to play football, so we are fortunate that we will play in the Confederations Cup.

"I remember the last time we lost to FUS De Rabat from Morocco [in 2010] and they went on to win the cup, so we can judge ourselves there. It is a great competition," Hunt adds.

Sure Zulu boy Msholozi. Still has the touches on the ball ne? Had a chance to kill the game off but attempted a fancy shot instead of just blasting past the leaking keeper. Shame Downs are really down this time. They should look at changing the name, maybe to SunUps?

well done Gavinuma, Nomvete and benni are just a cut above the rest and its starting to show and it is hurting Pitso so bad since his under-fire Mphela is just a bag of potatoes. Mushekwi is a better striker than Mphela and we all know it. Harde Masandawana. Irvin Khoza please save our teko.. its now a sad story indeed.

Gavin Hunt talk too much... he must shut his mouth... he is racist... look now he is talking about Zulus in our football... he does not want black people and their teams to have money .... SSU are watched by 15 people every time they play... They play boring football.... ,,,,,,.... Eish Matsatsantsa are jele sis!!! hahahaha!! I thought Pirates won everything on offer this season.... SSU did not win 3 league titles in a row by fluke!

Zuma htre Zulu is evergreen indeed. Theis man can match any in the PSL any day, bar for his injuries.
The difference between Zuma and Nomvete with the rest is the dedication and the winning mentality they poisses. Thye also respect their jobs more than anything else. Welldone to you boys..

hey Zim,
Zuma has won leagues and cups during his top flight career in Europe (Denmark). He had achieved what May Mahlangu had last season. Zuma had also won player of the year in the same European country.
