Bidvest Wits defender Mbulelo Mabizela named the club’s Player of the Year

Bidvest Wits have held their end of year awards with veteran defender Mbulelo ‘OJ’ Mabizela named the club’s Player of the Year at a small function held at the Southern Sun in Monte Casino on Thursday.

Mabizela has been an influential figure at the club since joining at the beginning of the season.   Stylish midfielder Sibusiso ‘General’ Vilakazi was voted the Players’ Player of the Year after an inspiring season.   Towering midfielder Lehlogonolo ‘Vieira’ Masalesa walked away with the Young Player of the Year while back up goalkeeper Eduan Naude was named the Clubman of the Year.     Wits have had a disappointing run in the second half of the season and are yet to win a League game in all of the 14 games that they have played this year.   They last won in the League before Christmas and have drawn seven and lost another seven since the start of the New Year.   The Clever Boys will have to be content with another lower half league finish and will finish off the season with a trip to Rustenburg to face Platinum Stars hoping to close the season with a win.

OJ wasted years with discipline, very lucky to recover from that unlike Jabu Mahlangu, the late Ntuka,Skappie & many more.

Not the best as he was b4.

Siya Sangweni probably the closest to the young OJ but age not on his side.
