Jomo Cosmos relegated for the PSL after draw with Black Leopards

Posted: 16 May 2012 Time: 21:34

Jomo Cosmos have made an instant return to the National First Division after a 2-2 draw with Black Leopards at Sinaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

Late goals by Tshidiso Tukane and Matthew Rusike saved some face for Jomo Sono’s men after Mongezi Bobe’s brace had put Lido Duvha ahead.

The relegation is Sono’s third in row in the top-flight, but it could have started so much more positive but for Katlego Loke’s shot hitting the post.

In the 16th minute Cosmos had another opportunity when a shot by Matthew Rusike went over the bar, with Bobe following suit two minutes later.

Avril Phali saved from Ernort Dzaga just before the break, while Bobe again fired over to send the teams into the break on level terms.

Cosmos fell behind the 72nd minute after great work from Raymond Monama on the left as he beat a defender before sending the ball into the area, where Bobe made no mistake.

Leopards doubled their lead four minutes later; Bobe controlled the ball on the edge of the box before unleashing a curling left-footed shot that beat Phali.

The match had seemed won by Leopards, but the Ezenkosi pulled one back six minutes from time.

Tukane, who had only just came on as a substitute two minutes earlier, got Cosmos back into the match as he slotted home from a goalmouth scramble.

Four minutes later, Siyabonga Nhlapo showed good vision as he found Rusike, who beat the offside trap and the Leopards keeper to make it 2-2.

Cosmos have now been automatically relegated from the PSL for the third consecutive time, whilst Leopards are not safe yet as they are only two points ahead of Santos in the fight for survival and try to avoid the relegation/promotion play-offs.

like i said, Jomo Cosmos must never come back to Psl. These thugs stole our 3 points by holding us a draw. But they didn't have a problem for giving Rats 3 points. So they must go forever. i don't understand jomo said his team is gonna come back in three months, maybe he was still deasy when interviewed.Arrows 1-Pie Rats 0, Swallows 1-Maritzburg 0. Downs waya waya

Leopards technical team is useless, why not instruct players to defend for less than 10 min. They lost a good chance to survive. Jomo must just sell the club to somebody who serious.

Jomo Sono is 1 of the great local coaches we have. However, his down fall was his Mvela playetrs. So people without football brains must stop misleading here saying Jomo Sono should have steped down.Even Jose Morhino could have gone down with this team.

This is the best news ever, hope there will never be that only one Cows-mos fan named Matshepiso again, he is so disgusting with his losing Cows-mos mentality. Even if The Birds could just remain on postion 2 I wouldn't be offended after seeing this team going down.

It is time Cosmos fired their coach, 3 relegations in a row? That means it is 3 times that they have denied a team that probably would have done better.

Oh, and hold on to your best players ... don't sell them at least until AFTER you have gotten suitable replacements.

Why when is Chiefs people blame management but when its Cosmos its Mvela players?

Whether we like it or not the buck stops with Jomo. After all he's the one who brought 1st division players & he must leave with that decision.I'm actually tired of his team coming in & out & its about time he stays in 1 place.

The last time I checked Jomo was a share holder in many business-ie. Midas,Mann & he aslo owned fast food franchises & if he can't buy players he has to shoulder the blame.
