‘My mind is no longer with Cosmos’

Ousmane Berthe ready to leave Jomo Cosmos

Posted: 15 May 2012 Time: 11:53 am

Ousmane Berthe tells KickOff.com that he is already thinking about his future in Europe, after Jomo Cosmos' disappointing season.

The Malian defender’s contract with Ezenkosi expires in 2013, but he looks set to play in Europe next season, with clubs from Germany, Italy and France reportedly having contacted his agent.

In fact, Berthe looked set to join Knowledge Musona at Hoffenheim earlier this season, but the move failed to materialise.

"My agent has told me about teams in Italy, Germany, France and Tunisia," the 25-year-old tells KickOff.com. "My main interest now is to play in Europe and not South Africa next season."

He adds: "People only remember and respect you when you play in a big European league. Look at Benni McCarthy ... people respect him a lot because he played in Europe. I also want to earn respect like my countryman Seiydou Keita has done in Europe with Barcelona.

"I have spoken to Jomo and he is also ready to help me achieve my dream."

Berthe says even though he has experienced more downs than ups during his time at Cosmos, he cherished playing in South Africa.

"I have enjoyed playing in South Africa," he says. "The standard of football in this country is high and I like the passion of the supporters. It's always nice to play in front of Chiefs, Sundowns and Pirates' fans.

"I wouldn't mind coming back to play in South Africa some day."

Cosmos will officially be relegated if they fail to beat Black Leopards tomorrow.

I won't be suprised if KC has something to do with this. Jomo has never denied players an opportunity to further their careers overseas.

hahahahahahah this cow is lying...i read o Laduma Motaung Family Senior member saying he wants to bolster his cowdy defence. We know from the likes of N1 Nahayo to Beyonce Lebaboon that the old man believes in players that always relegate cosmos.
