Matthews sent his congratulations to Tuks, as the University of Pretoria are affectionately known, following their 3-2 loss against Mpumalanga Black Aces at Rand Stadium.
The results confirmed their ascendency from the National First Division through automatic promotion as the side that finished first, after Blackburn Rovers fell out of contention following their loss to Chippa United. Rovers could still qualify via the Play-offs.

Credit should go Tuks management for ensuring continuity and of course their coach, Steve Barker who has been with this side for a while now. I would also like to welcome Tuks supporters."
Matthews added: "A lot of work lies ahead for them as they prepare for life in the Premier Division. As the League, we will offer them the best possible support to help them acquaint and adapt better to life in the elite ranks."

Your comments on this story...
- You Caused an upset by beating PSL top teams (such as Chiefs) in Nedbank cup previously.
- You produced some quality PSL players such as Mthokozisi Yende, Andile "KING" Jali and Phenyo Mongala
- You have been always ending a season in the TOP 4 of the 1st Division.
Based on the above, you deserve a promotion.
I cannot wait to see you displaying a marvelous football I have seen from you in the previous Nedbank cup matches.
"The sky will always be the limit".
Unlike other cities (JHB, Durban, Cape Town) whom each has a below average team/s in the league, I am sure TUKS will challenge the PSL teams strongly.
I will be happy if the boring defensive Santos gets relegated.
Up the Bucs!!!
Also thank you in advance for the 6 points we'll be collecting from you as Orlando Pirates and also don't even dare think you stand a chance against us in cup competitions.
Football 101 was indoctrinated at the University of Orlando
