Confed Cup wipe-out for Nigeria

Nigeria suffered a wipe-out in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday as Warri Wolves and Heartland were both eliminated on away goals rule.

Wolves took a 3-1 lead lead to South African PSL strugglers Black Leopards, but were beaten 2-0 and dumped out.

Heartland had a mountain to climb heading into their own fixture in Congo. The Owerri side needed a late goal to secure the 3-2 win in the first leg, and we're walking a tightrope going into the second.

It was a hurdle they failed to scale, as the hosts won 2-1 on the day.

Sunshine Stars were left to provide cheering new fr Nigeria, beating Mali's Djoliba 1-0 to advance to the group stages of the CAF Champions League after a 1-1 draw in the away leg.

The truth is within ourselves but is quite disturbing that we Nigerian's don't want to hear the truth.I have never seen such an ill luck sets of people than Maigary an Co.Since they took over, nothing but bad luck for our football.Let me say it again,As long as we have those monsters in the glass house, the inevitable will continue to occur.

I know that some doofuses here will come up with a weak comment but would that solve the problem?.

@kola,us; Here you go again, always finding a way of bringing in Siasia to anything you write. Lulu may have won a number of laurels but what about the corruption case on his head? Should we keep lauding corrupt leaders in our society because of the peanuts that we are handed. The same thing happens in the political scenes. A governor is praised for performing his statutory roles (which he does not do with his money anyway) and people clamor for corrupt charges on his head to be overlooked just because he shared the money around. We should learn from Hungary and Yahoo whose heads were removed this year for plagiarizing and lying on the degree earned respectively.

If you want to have a go at Siasia, you accuse him of using overaged players under the leadership of Lulu but when supporting Lulu, Siasia's achievement in 2005 is one of the reasons given: what an irony.

Back to the headline above, NFF must have an international department that looks into the continental competition of our clubsides. Report from Congo where Warri Wolves played showed that they were left in the airport unattended to for 5 hours. Incidents like these have happened to our clubsides in time past without anyone acting. Instead, we accuse of the players of not being good enough. Even in the days where Al Ahly was unbeatable in Africa, they often employ this unsportsmanly tactics. Enyimba had to be prepared mentally and materially in order to match them in their own game. The earlier the NFF assists the clubsides, the better for us otherwise the only hope we have in Sunshine Stars will soon get dashed.

@kola, are you rewriting history? why is lulu in court? for mismanagement? I have not heard of someone being summoned to the court for mismanagement before, at least not in Nigeria. His case is still in court so we may not be able to give a guilty verdict on him. Likewise, you cannot paint him as a saint that was meted with injustice until the present case in court is concluded. Can you please forget Amodu and Lulu and let's move on. I know that you have a soft spot for them. I wonder how you knew categorically that Lulu is a saint from your US base.

As for Heartland, Imo state govt will not lament that much about the lost because it saves them some money. Heartland will be a mediocre team hencefort until a govt that really care 4 football comes unboard.
