NFD round-up: Tuks on their way up

First Division round-up: University of Pretoria on way to promotion

Posted: 6 May 2012 Time: 08:49 pm

University of Pretoria are just one point away from automatic promotion to the Premiership next season after they thrashed United FC 4-1.

This victory moves AmaTuks to 52 points, and another win on Wednesday - coupled with a Blackburn Rovers defeat - will see AmaTuks claim the title and polay in the Absa Premiership next season.

United move down to eighth with 38 points, and still have an outside chance to make the Play-offs.

A single goal from Geofrey Serunkuma in the 16th minute was enough to give Vasco da Gama the full three points against FC Cape Town. The Cape Derby did not end without drama, after Mkhanyiseli Siwahla was showed a red in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Vasco are now back in the Play-off race, in sixth place with 40 points. FC Cape Town have slipped out of the top eight, to ninth.

Blackburn Rovers lost ground in the race for an automatic promotion place, after playing to a 1-1 draw with African Warriors. Rovers remain in second with 46 points, while Warriors stay in the top eight in seventh.

The shock of the weekend was in KwaZulu-Natal, where Thanda Royal Zulu were beaten 2-0 at home by bottom half side Carara Kicks. Thanda remain in third place, but are nine points behind with three games left. Carara Kicks are on 32 points and moving away from the relegation zone.

FC AK piled more misery on Atlie FC camp, when they beat them 2-1. Atlie remain bottom of the table with 23 points, while FC AK move into the top five.

Chippa United could not cement the last Play-off position when they played to a 1-1 scoreline against relegation candidates Bay United at Philippi Stadium.

United are now level on points with FC AK, but Chippa move to fourth on goal-difference. Things are not looking good for Bay, and they are still second from bottom with 26 points, three points clear of Atlie.

Dynamos got a much needed win when they beat in-form Witbank Spurs 2-0. The win moves Dynamos to 12th place, while Spurs remain 10th.

Mpumalanga Black Aces failed to move away from the relegation zone when they were held by a 10-man Sivutsa Stars 0-0. Aces are still in the bottom three, but Sivutsa keep that two point gap between themselves and Aces.

i know maths was not your favourite subject, but let me make it easy for you. 3 games remaining = 9 points. Tuks 52 points at the moment and blackburn 46, meaning they are both fighting for 9 points. If on wednesday Tuks draw they will have 53 and Blackburn rovers lose the will remain at 46. now here is the sub A maths. 53-46 = 7 and remember there are only two games left. if they both win these games the can only get 6. tuks win the league by 1 point.

I can see your maths is good, but English was not your favorite subject either. Christopher should have said Tuks need a draw BUT must hope for blackburn to loose.

So what happens if tuks draw but blackburn wins?????? tuks will be on 53 and blackburn on 49. 3 points will be separating them, with 2 games left to play. do your maths again and tell me what will happen.

so El Kampion is right when he wants an explanation from Christopher.

I agrre with you El Kampion Sister P and his cronies r just trying tryin to be smart for nothing. Anyway I welcome UOP I think this is one team that will further contribute in developing our players in this country but Im just wondering about their support base since I think they will be playing at Masterpieces Moripe Stadium where SSU Sundowns always struggle to get supporters but other than that they will add value to thi league and they will not be a yoyo team like Cosmos coz they have a very strong background.

if you look at the above two statements, your copy and paste and my copy and paste u'll see that its contradicting. so El Kampion was right in wanting an explanation...

THE POINT HERE MR IS THAT TUKS DO NOT NEED A POINT TO WIN PROMOTION.

IF YOU DO NOT SEE THAT THEN I REALLY CAN NOT WASTE MY TIME DEBATING WITH U......
