Palacios: Wits were too defensive

Prior to this match the Clever Boys had only collected two points from a possible 18, however they competed well against the defending champions throughout the game.

It also took some good goalkeeping from Energy Murambadoro and good defending from Brad Phillips to keep the Buccaneers at bay.

It was Bucs second match in succession that ended in a goalless draw, after they drew with Moroka Swallows during the week.

"We did not play well at all in the first half, but also Wits did not make things any easier for us, as they were too defensive and they wanted to catch us on the counter attack. After a series of poor results, Wits coach Roger de Sa has a reason to smile, as despite a long injury list his young squad held their own against the log leaders.

"Matches against big teams with a lot of fans at the stadium are always very motivating to my players and I think today they worked very hard," De Sa says.

"In the middle of the park Katlego Pule was outstanding, and I am happy with their performance. We also had a few players returing from injuries on the bench and we gave them a run, but we should be able to use them freely in the next game."
