Blackburn Rovers missed out on the chance to go top of the National First Division standings following a 1-0 defeat to FC Cape Town.

Leandre Tawamba scored the winner for the team from the Mother City, leaving Rovers stuck in second place on 41 points, two behind leaders University of Pretoria, who were held to a goalless draw by FC AK.

Chippa United trashed relegation-threatened Atlie FC 5-1 to keep alive their hopes of promotion to the top-flight.

Petros Ngebo kept up his good form with yet another goal, while Andile Mbeyane, Joshua Souls and Sibusiso Nhlalo also found the back of the net.

This victory moves Chippa United up to 37 points, while Atlie remain second from bottom on 22 points.

African Warriors heaped more misery on Dynamos when they beat the Giyani team 3-1 at Charles Mopedi Stadium, while Witbank Spurs won the Mpumalanga derby, beating Black Aces 2-1 – a result which leaves the latter in bottom place.

Unied FC striker David Radebe continued his good form in front of goals when he scored a brace in a 2-2 draw against Sivutsa Stars, who netted through Thabo Rakhale and Mtatho Ndoda.

Vasco da Gama got back to winning ways when they beat Carara Kicks 3-1 to move to within a point of third-placed Thanda Royal Zulu, who drew 2-2 with Bay United.

United scored through Koketso Takalo and Jomo Motlhaping, while Peter Nwadike got a brace for Neil Tovey’s men. Thanda are still in title contention with 38 points, while Bay continue to fight their way from bottom – they are now three points ahead of Aces.
