OFFICIAL: Leal given the boot

Orlando Pirates and coach Julio Cesar Leal have officially parted ways

Orlando Pirates and head coach Julio Cesar Leal have officially parted ways following a meeting with the latter’s representative this morning.

KickOff.com reported earlier today that Leal and the team were likely to part ways today.   The Brazilian was suspended on March 12 after he said "he could not see his way forward" and offered the chairman "to do what is right for the club", which in turn prompted the club to "embark on a fact finding investigation".   Pirates boss Khoza revealed over the weekend that the investigators were to report back to the board today and the club would then “peruse the report, apply our minds to it and arrive at a decision that will be the best for the club.”   Now that Leal’s departure has been confirmed, the Brazilian has “requested that the details of the investigation not be disclosed as they were not tested in a hearing. The Orlando Pirates Football Club Board of Directors (“the Board”) has accepted the parting of ways with the Head Coach which is with immediate effect.   "The Board concurs that the statements collected as part of the investigation remain allegations as they were not tested in cross examination… The Board wishes the coach success in his future endeavours.”   Leal was appointed nine months ago on June 22, after signing a three-year deal with the club.   Follow me on Twitter @TTM16

What is that that was shot cutted and which may not be revealed? This mean that Leal was fired based on a heresay, factless story. Why didnt they conduct a hearing? Leal can pursue this matter in court if he likes because he was unfairly dismissed. But he wont, not with Khoza around. I am sure he got the fattest handshake, i mean a 5 year contract is nothing cheap to payout. hehehehehe..Up the Bugs...

Yster or Yeast, please read the statement propoerly. OPFC has concluded the investigation and the investigators were gonna submit report today, after the board has applied their minds on the report...then there was gonna be a hearing with the coach and his represantatives. The coach then decided that the hearing doesn't happen at all through his agent, thus asked the report not to be disclosed. So I don't what you mean about Leal taking the matter to court, because he didn't even wanted the matter to go to hearing. Hence, opted for contract cancellation. And for your infomation, his mandate was to reach finals of Champs League which he failed dismally.
