Newly appointed coach of Ghana giants Accra Hearts of Oak, C.K. Akunnor, has told Goal.com that losing his first game comes with a great deal of disappointment.

However, the former Black Stars captain was optimistic the future is bright and his maiden league game against Liberty Professionals served as a litmus test to gauge his charges.

The Phobians lost in a 1-0 home game against the Dansoman-based club on Sunday.

“It's a big blow,” Akunnor told Goal.com. “No one wants to lose on his first day at work, but it's nothing new. I have noted a few things down and I'll encourage my players never to give up yet.”

“I have always told management that I'm not focusing so much on the table, but how to win game after game. That's my priority and will eventually reflect on the table.”

Akunnor said he is going to invest a great deal of effort into encouraging his charges to build up their confidence level since he observed “that element was lacking in this particular game.”

Asante Kotoko now lead the domestic top flight 10 points clear of second place.
