AmaZulu too clever for Bidvest Wits

Posted: 20 March 2012 Time: 22:08

AmaZulu moved up to ninth place in the League table following a 2-0 win over Bidvest Wits at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tangeni Shipahu struck for the home side just before half-time, while Ayanda Dlamini added the insurance goal late in the second half.

The home side came close to opening the scoring in the fourth minute when Thamsanqa Teyise connected with a cross from Kagiso Senamela, but his header drew a good save from Emille Baron, who also managed to block Ayanda Dlamini’s shot from the rebound.

Goodman Dlamini had a golden chance to break the deadlock four minutes later when he latched onto a through-pass from Tsweu Mokoro, but saw his shot blocked by the advancing Baron when a lobbed attempt would’ve been the better option.

Sibusiso Vilakazi then threatened for the visitors in the ninth minute when he fired a rocket from outside the box, but his attempt was palmed over the crossbar by Tapuwa Kapini, while Senamela also saw his drive tipped around the box by Baron three minutes later.

Then Ayanda Dlamini had a great chance to score only his second League goal of the season in the 22nd minute when he was given too much room inside the box on the right, but his shot went just wide of the far post.

The opening goal of the match finally arrived in the 45th minute when Shipahu collected a pass from Senamela on the right and fired a low shot past Baron.

The home side came out strongly after the break and almost added to their tally in the opening minute, but Goodman Dlamini saw his shot tipped over the crossbar by the brilliant Baron.

Asive Langwe almost equalised for the Clever Boys against the run of play in the 66th minute, but his header flew over the crossbar.

Then Ayanda Dlamini was released through the middle by a pass from his namesake Goodman Dlamini, before firing past Baron from close range.

For the past few seasons De Sa Wits start brilliantly only to run out gas.
I remember when brazilians-i.e De jesus where still there it is the same scenario.

Coming up next will be De Sa speaking portuguese.

Or should I say swearing in portuguese.

Lastly I didn't believe Roger Pelgrem will last this long & miraculously steadying the ship after Manqoba lack of artistictry.

No surprise here. Wits only play well against Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns. Otherwise they are in the PSL for years to makeup the numbers.

When they beat Pirates they thought their mission was accomplished, their win was fair & square but mocking the team's logo was way out of line & now they're paying 4 it.
