Bucs suspend Leal

Orlando Pirates suspend coach Julio Leal

Posted: 12 March 2012 Time: 11:13 am

Orlando Pirates have suspended coach Julio Leal 'with immediate effect'.

According to a statement on the club's official website, Pirates have suspended Leal as they "embark on a fact finding investigation".

The club is looking for "reasons why during performance evaluation sessions, the coach expressed that 'he could not see his way forward” and offered the chairman “to do what is right for the club'.

"Augusto Palacios, technical director of development will assume the role of head coach. The rest of the technical team stays the same," the terse statement concludes.

The news is not good for Bucs ahead of their Soweto Derby meeting with Kaizer Chiefs on the weekend.

He was really losing it... I'm not sure if Augusto is the right replacement though. But we have a very gud competitive squad and an 'average' coach should really be able to win everything with those players...

About time - DR K please take your time in getting a proper replacement. "I would like to thank the Chairman", "Credit must go to the Chaiman", "Obviously its all because of the chairman".

I think this good for him(Leal).Truth is he was loosing it an there was no way he could have taken us to greater heights...... I'm not sure about Palacious though but with the squad he has at his disposal he can sweep everything and Leave them Zebras and Dunusas bencela izithupha........Good call for Leal "The club is looking for "reasons why during performance evaluation sessions, the coach expressed that 'he could not see his way forward” and offered the chairman “to do what is right for the club'.

It's not like he was fired , he said it himself "he could not see his way forward”

If Orlando Pirates was a commercial entity with a mandate & a open constitution that held everyone accountable the Chairman should also be evaluated because he's the one who changed the technical staff & even gave himself a pat on the back when Leal won Mtn 8,saying he was happy with the new coach's progress.

I for one never had faith in Julio Leal's tactics since day one.

What made Leal to say he doesn't see a way forward & the Chairman must do what right for the club?Probably what was said to him & this is just a scapegoat.

People in charge are always afraid to come out & say i/we have erred because they are protecting their integrity & that include Irvine Khoza.
