Platinum Stars suspend Owen da Gama

Posted: 9 March 2012 Time: 19:10

Platinum Stars are conducting a 'formal investigation' after allegations that Owen da Gama accepted money from players in return for a starting place.

Da Gama is said to be taking legal against the publication that published the allegations two weeks ago.

Platinum Stars released a statement today, reading: An independent team will be appointed to look into the issues and will call upon witnesses, including Mr da Gama himself, to provide information that will assist in making recommendations to the board.

The club has asked Mr Da Gama to stand aside while these investigations take place so as not to jeopardize the independence thereof.

The club has appointed their Academy director, Mr Cavin Johnson, and Mr Allan Freeze to coach the team on an interim basis pending the outcome of the investigation.

Dikwena, who are fighting relegation, play Golden Arrows in Rustenburg on Wednesday.

Poor allegations. They just wanted to get rid of the guy. Results are not coming. They fabricate stories rather than to settle the outstanding part of the contract. Stupids. Last, Ruud Krol was at their game, taking notes. How can an umeployed coach take notes of the game he is not interested in? What is he going to do with those notes. You see, silver linings are showing in platinum stars. Maybe they should revert name to silver stars. Kak team!

This is very funny and immature, based on allegations of the media now they suspend OWEN, this is ridiculous. I wish he sues them til they walk slowly like a sick man. These allegations can put this team into trouble, what if some bitter players conspired with management so that they can replace DA Gama with R Krol . This was evident by Krol attending a night game between plat stars and OPFC, writting notes and all that....There is no smoke without fire, DA game did say that somebody will pay for this and it is him now.

The only way in life to clear ur name on allegations is to let investigations take its course & if you suppress them, then it leaves the impressions ur hiding something.

Let the process take its course & we must hope its a speedy one for all those involved to move on.

If this are pure defamation of character Da Gama must sue till the last cent.

However if this is found to be true then he must be expelled from football for life.

teams are using anything to suck their coaches.I feel they are cowards. Why they don't pay their coaches for their remaining period in their contract and hire the coach they want.Coaches are human beings too and they have families to feed.

Is he that broke that he would accept money from players ODG is bigger than that but if the allegations are true it would be a real disappointment to SA football

I doubt if Sundayworld will run such an incriminating story without a reliable source. If that's the case then they are in big kak.

What is see coming out of this is Da Gama claiming to have joked with a player or official regarding this.

Sometimes to be a football supporter makes you a stupid, i mean some have already concluded that Mr ODG accepted the bribes while others have concluded that Mr ODG would never do such a thing going as far as toungue lashing club owners. Is it that difficult to wait for the investigation outcomes 1st before you can post your impaired conclusions here?

Dis are the things dat africans are gud at ignoring. U will hear them say" no no no hhayi, not my Owen. Ngeke nje, ngeke ayenze leyonto. Hawu labelungu badlala ngaye. No no hhayi cha. Nxa"
Then when he's found to be guilty. " Hawu modimo, nkosiyami, thixo shame shame shame"

When Junaid Hurtley talks abt dis things on Metro FM few years back, people pretended that is doesn't exit.

Dis tym I pray, real prayer. Players with evident must come forward. Our football doesn't need dis kind of people.
At national level we know that some agent pays the coaches and technical team to selects their players.
But if sm1 can bring that evident and hav pitso suspended. Uzozwa abantu" hawu badlanga ngomuntu wakithi hawwwuuuuuuu webantu bakhohlakele, how they can do that to their kind"

I giv up

If this is true i sugest he be banned from soccer in general cos this is very unethical.

Me thinks Pitso is doing the same with at our national team.
