Mabalane promises four trophies

The Buccaneers have already defended their MTN8 title and also won the Telkom Knockout earlier this season, but ‘Terminator’ says the challenge for the club is to win everything on offer this season, especially after their failure in the CAF Champions League.

“The challenge we have is to win everything that comes our way and all of us, including the staff, coaches, supporters and the chairman, wants to win everything we can,” he says.

Pirates start their defence of the Nedbank Cup against unknown Ethekwini Coastal FC on Saturday night, and the winger says though they don’t know the team, they won’t underestimate them.

“They’re a closed book; we don’t know what to expect, but we know what to do from our side,” he adds. “We always prepare the best way we can. I think that’s the best thing for us to do; we never take any team for granted.”

Pirates are currently trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points, and Mabalane says they will continue their pursuit of The Brazilians without worrying too much about what their rivals do.

“We are focusing on ourselves and on winning the League; we are not necessary trying to focus on one team. That’s how we won the League last year.”
