Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama focused on the League

Posted: 8 March 2012 Time: 10:03 am

Under-fire Platinum Stars coach Owen da Gama says he is focusing more on improving his team's position on the PSL log standings than the success in the Nedbank Cup.

Speaking after his team's 5-0 win over Vodacom League side Dolphins FC on Wednesday at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex last night, ‘ODG’ says reaching the semifinals of the lucrative tournament would be a bonus.

“If we manage to get to the semifinals then it would be an added bonus for us,” Da Gama says.

“But our emphasis is on the League. We want to be in a good position. Our problems in the first round were caused by our failure to score goals. We are now scoring goals and it is a positive development.”

Stars’ 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in their last League match lifted them to 12th on the PSL log standings, with fellow strugglers Golden Arrows next in their sights.

Da Gama was asked a question and he answered it. It doesnt mean he is not under fire. Guys, i think Platinum Stars is stressing Da Gama very bad. Look how thin he is, if you know him you can tell even from this pic. But i still maintain he is a good coach. Just that some teams are not meant for certain coaches.
