Dikwena last tasted victory in the first round of the 2011 Telkom Knockout when they defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 after extra time on October 23. Their last League success came a week earlier with a 4-1 victory over Santos.
But since then the club has drawn four and lost six of their last 10 matches in all competitions, the worst run in the club’s top-flight history since they won promotion ahead of the 2003/04 Premier Soccer League season.
In fact, the club has won just 11 games in two calendar years, dating back to the start of February 2010. They have played 59 matches in that time.
Stars started life in the top flight on a shaky note, going eight League games without a win at the beginning of the 2003/04 campaign before recording their first win in the top-flight against Hellenic thanks to a lone goal from the late Oscar Ntwagae. They had beaten SuperSport United a few days earlier in the Coca-Cola Cup.
Next up for them now is a tough trip to Bloemfontein Celtic, who have lost just once at home in their last 27 games.
After that Dikwena will believe they can return to winning ways with a Nedbank Cup first round clash against Limpopo Vodacom League side Dolphins FC.
