Kanu wants confident Eagles

Former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu wants the domestic League players in the Super Eagles squad to be confident even in the face of competition from their Europe-based compatriots.

Kanu visited the squad at their training session on Tuesday in Abuja and assured them that they could be as good as the top players
“You have to have confidence in yourself and to be determined and not be shaky because some of your brothers are coming from Europe to join the team.
"They all started from here like you and you should show them that you can play as well as they can and demonstrate it when you engage Rwanda in Kigali,” he said.

He praised the courage and belief of Keshi in the players and urged the players to repay Keshi with wins in all their qualifying games for the South Africa 2013 Nations Cup and the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Team skipper, Chigozie Agbim, who replied on behalf of the players, thanked the icon for finding time to visit them in training and assured that the team will not let him and the Nigerian public down when they confront Rwanda in eight days time.

Those of you killing yourselves and running amorc over the fact that SiaOne visited SE camp need to grow up. It is okay when other ex-players/coaches like Kanu and Amodu visit the team but you find something wrong only when Siasia do the same. A member of this forum went as far as cursing him out. Haa, kilo dee? Kilo le to yen? Na wao. Please stop this hating game. Come to think of it, how many competetive game did Siasia lose when he was the Coach, none. Siasia did his best for this country .. Plesae let Siasia be.

NACHIOMA: 2012-02-22 16:07

@Wole, You are the one that doesn't want Siasia to be. must you bring Siasia's matter every time you come in here?

Playing in Chelsea dose not give you automatic shirt in Super Eagles and it is only a Stupid coach will invite a player like Mikel to represent Nigeria in any competition game. Keshi, no matter i don't support your job as a coach but your decision to exclude Mikel, shows that maybe you are watching game. The so-called Mikel is not committed to national team and will be happy for his exclusion. Did he play last night champions league with Napoli. Even Chelsea coach have started known that Mikel is unless. Fighting spirit is determination. Mikel presence in the camp will bring division among players.

@Sam, well done s/african brother for your statement. You are not the only wondering what has been going on in nigeria. People from within and without the country have asking questiond about the underperformance of the SE over the padt few years. Contrary to what people outside country might be thinking, talent actially abpund in the countr- it is our football administration that has let us down badly for the past 12 years.

King Kanu thank you to avail Yourself when needed. Guys we want to SE in South Africa

theeagle: 2012-02-23 22:21

Kanu spoke well. However, I am looking about ex-players and ex-coaches visiting S.E camp from two perspectives. (A)Positively; it is good giving the whole team moral support.(B)Negatively; the coaching crew and players need to be left alone. This is how the issue of tribalism and favouritism creeps into the team. Because all these celebrities have an opinion on players like, so they might begin to try to lobby the coach and this is not acceptable.
These are things you dont see in developed playing football countries such as England, Spain, Germany and Brazil that ex-players and ex-coaches are visiting current players and current coaching crew in camp.
The Coach needs to be left alone follow his phylosophy through about how S.E can reach greater heights again without interference.

ola2014: 2012-02-26 22:53

How is it possible for home based players to get a fair chance when the foreign basd players will only be in camp for 2 days. Then Keshi says no automtic shirt. How is that possible? Obviousl there will be automatic shirts because you cant assess players in two days. Is Keshi playing us for fool? Hetalks too much.
