Goran Stevanovic will arrive in Accra later on Tuesday night ahead of a crunch meeting with the executive committee of the Ghana Football Association with his future at stake.
The Serbian is due to meet the GFA on Wednesday morning before a decision will be made on his future as Ghana coach with a year left on his current 30,000 Euro a month deal.
The 45-year old promised he will quit as Ghana coach if the Black Stars failed to reach the finals of the Nations Cup but has now backtracked on his words and says the decision to fire him will be in the hands of the Ghana Football Association.
That decision could cost the country 360,000 Euro for his annual salary but there are many within the executive committee of the Ghana Football Association will to sacrifice the Serbian at the cost and fuly convinced that another year with him could send Ghana football further down.
But Stevanovic has strong backers including GFA president Kwesi Nyantekyie who is reportedly keen to see him stay especially with world cup and Nations Cup qualifiers to come later on in the year.
The issue has sharply devided opinion in a country that was left bitterly dissappointed after failure to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
A website www.sackplavi.com has even been set up dedicated to getting the Serbian sacked with a litany of complaints about his one year period in charge including his unwillingness to stay in Accra and his heavy reliance on players who were simply not inactive at club level for the Nations Cup.
All that looks likely to come to nothing with the odds heavily in favour of the Serbian hanging unto his job after the executive committee meeting tommorow.
