Bennett to officiate in CAF Super Cup final

Posted: 2012-02-21 12:07

Daniel Bennett has been appointed to officiate in the prestigious 2012 Orange CAF Super Cup final between Esperance ST of Tunisia and Maghreb de Fes of Morocco.

The 20th edition of the final will take place in Stade Rades in Tunisia on Saturday, February 25.

The Super Cup final pits the winners of the 2011 CAF Champions League (Esperance) against the 2011 CAF Confederations Cup victors (Maghreb). It is hosted by the winners of the Champions League.

Bennett has just returned from the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations tournament that was held in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon recently. His last match was the semi-final clash between Mali and Cote d'Ivoire in Libreville.

Running the lines in Tunisia will be Enock Molefe and Zakhele Siwela, while Victor Hlungwani will be the fourth official.

The following week (Wednesday, February 29) the whole team (Bennett, Molefe, Siwela and Hlungwani) will be in Rwanda to officiate in the preliminary round of the 2013 African Cup of Nations clash between Rwanda and Nigeria in Kigali.

"The appointment of our officials to such high profile matches is a clear indication that the standard of refereeing in this country is really improving hence the recognition we get from both Fifa and CAF," says Xolani Mtumtum, acting chairman of Safa's referees' committee.

"As for Bennett, he has worked really hard to get where he is. He is a true professional and his desire to continue learning has made him a legend among his peers."

This time last year I had Jerome Demon in front of Daniel Bennett & was amazed that he failed the tests.

1 year of inactivity for any sportsmen is a mountain to climb & for his sake we hope for the positive.

Daniel Bennett on the other side started very well & in my opinion got complacent as the years go by but having reached this present milestone is good news & congratulations are in order.

Where is Qcubule? I saw somewhere that he has failed the trials hence he couldn't be signed by the club he enjoys playing for...you can guess which club am referring to...yes you guessed right.

Ay I,m also not a fan of Qgubule, he must up his game if he were to emulate the likes of Benett

Daniel Bennet really deserve this kind of opportunity because of his honestly and hard working, he can make mistakes as a human being but his standard is amazing....gud luck to the whole team.
