South African football great Jomo Sono has shed light on the issue of the number 10 jersey involving Teko Modise.
Initially, as reflected on a KickOff.com report on Monday, it was purported that ‘Bra J’ was identifying 'The Navigator' as his successor to the South Africa's best number 10, but Sono has set the record straight.
“Teko was honouring me as the best number 10 [ever] in the country,” Sono confirms.
The ‘Troublemaker’ says he wasn’t surprised by Modise’s honour, because the latter is an “honest” person.
“I feel good that he honoured me. I feel great and I was humbled for him to honour me. I think that’s why he’s been a success in football, because he is honest,” Sono adds.
KickOff.com also spoke to Modise’s business manager Jazzman Mahlakgane, who provided more information on the matter.
“Jomo was also honouring Teko, that’s why Teko received a signed Sundowns yellow jersey from Jomo,” Mahlakgane says.
For his part, Modise reveals in a declaration message that he accepted the number 10 jersey at Sundowns in honour of Sono.
Teko says: “I, Tsholofelo Teko Modise, has accepted jersey no 10 from my team Mamelodi Sundowns in honour and recognition of Ephraim Jomo Sono.”
