Mweene: Honeymoon is over now

Free State Stars have been boosted by the return of first-choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene ahead of their League game against AmaZulu on Saturday.
Mweene and his Zambian teammates upset the odds to lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy on Sunday, and were afforded extra time off to celebrate the victory.
Mweene missed Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with SuperSport United, with Ayanda Mtshali filling in between the goalposts, but the Chipolopolo star is now back at work and ready to face Usuthu.
“We had a great time in Zambia, celebrating our achievement for the past three days, but now it’s back to work and concentrating on my job with Free State Stars,” he tells KickOff.com.
“I have always said there is competition in the goalkeeping department at Free State Stars and the team can do well even without Kennedy Mweene. Ayanda is a very good goalkeeper with great potential, and it came as no surprise when he won the Man of the Match award against SuperSport.”
Despite his heroics in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, Mweene insists he has not yet received any offers for his services.
“I have just opened my South African number and have not received any offers,” he says. “I spoke to my agent and he said he will allow me to rest before we start to talk about any interest.”
