Borman: I will work hard for SuperSport

New SuperSport United left-back Danleigh Borman says he is ready for the challenge of the PSL after completing his move back home from the MLS.

Borman, who left South Africa at 19 on an American college scholarship, was in the stands to watch his new teammates play to a 1-1 home draw with Free State Stars on Wednesday night, when fellow Capetonian Franklin Cale netted on his Matsatsantsa debut.

“I can see these guys can play football,” Borman tells KickOff.com. “There are some really talented players here. They have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home.”

The former Rygersdal striker is still living from a hotel as he looks for a new place to stay in Pretoria, but admits having other ‘Capeys’ around him like Cale and Sameegh Doutie will help.

“For sure … Mario Booysen is also from Cape Town, and so is Ricardo Katza,” he says. “I get along well with all of these guys and they will definitely help me settle.”

The 27-year-old, who has played for Rhode Island University, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC, is also excited about working with three-time Premiership winner Gavin Hunt, and is full of praise for his new coach.

“The coach definitely knows what he’s doing and keeps things simple,” he says. “He doesn’t complicate things and lets players play their natural game. This is very important for footballers … to be allowed to think for themselves.”

With Katza and Tebogo Langerman ahead of the former Santos youngster in the pecking order, Borman is ready to put in the hard yards to convince Hunt he should start.

“I can only control what I can do,” he adds. “I will work very hard to win a place in the starting eleven, and then it’s up to the coach. I will keep working very hard to show that I am a good, solid defender for the team.”

Great speed and very good crossing ability. His defensive positioning is cr*p and that is why he is back in Mzansi with the PSL. He will do well here because the "PSL is the seventh best league in the world". hahahaha.
