May Mahlangu wants to be in squad for South Africa against Senegal

Mahlangu eager for Bafana place

Posted: 2012-02-13 13:18

May Mahlangu's agent reveals the Helsingborgs midfielder is hoping to keep his place in the Bafana Bafana squad for the showdown with Senegal later this month.

The 22-year-old from Mpumalanga is currently preparing for the start of the new season in Sweden's Allsvenkam after leading his side to an unprecedented treble last year.

Mahlangu received his first international call-up for the 0-0 draw with Equatorial Guinea last month, when several of Pitso Mosimane's regulars were unavailable, but agent Nadeem Mahmood is hopeful he has done enough to be selected again.

Do you want to see Mahlangu back in the Bafana fold? Have your say on Facebook HERE!

"I think he's got a great chance – he played very well in the last match and that's why I think he will be there again," Mahmood tells KickOff.com.

"The coach spoke very well about May after the game so that is very promising. It's a Fifa date so there will be no problem getting released by his club, but at the end of the day it is down to the coach who he selects for his squad.

"He is in very good shape because they have already started training for the new season in Sweden and played a few games in Portugal last week."

Several Dutch clubs are interested in signing Mahlangu at the end of the season after he was voted Sweden's Player of the Year. But Mahmood insists they are still no closer to resolving his future, with Helsingborgs thought to be holding out for a sizeable transfer fee for their prized asset.

"There's two or three clubs that are interested in him but we haven't signed with any yet and we are only going to do that once the season is over in the rest of Europe," he says.

"We have to wait and see what happens in May and June. The situation in the transfer market is making it difficult to move players around but the opportunity is there and I hope we will have everything in place in the next few months."

This media star, I am also tired of this player now, this is an ordinary player who happened to player for the 'weakest' league and thus proved an old adage that" in the absence of the best the worst (May) becomes the best"

kksonuk: 2012-02-13 14:05

@Jeff and Dr_Prof

Can you say the same about any of the Zambian players ... ? Is there anything called weak league today? Well not totally against what you said but I would like to see one of the players or even South African players playing in one of the strong leagues in the world having lifted the Afcon last night! Lol! At the same time I agree that media does not make players ... everyone ate a humble pie last night! So we got to be careful about how we rate players.

This journalist and the agent have one thing in common. To tell Pitso that he must call Mahlangu for the friendly match, nothing else. Anyway we know that there are some journalist who are paid to market players

may mahlangu and his agents

the media can make u and the very same media can break u. playas are not rised to stardom by de media but the performance is de one dat speaks volumes...i know u've done well last season in sweden and teams will be planing against u. this season u may found the going to get tough and de media will try to press u down

tell ur agent to stop running to de media after each and every rumour. a certain playa is set to join oversea team every season while him n his agents knows very well dat they are not even invited but they just went for trials. ur agent is only trying to make money out of u...dont dance to his tunes

concentrate on ur career in sweden until an intrested team come on board...pienaar was singing "everton is home" not long ago forgeting his first single "money is evrything" which de lyks of zothwane, ramokala, mmotong n adas where his backing vocalists...i dnt want u to turn from hero to zero while ur still starting ur career adventure.

tshepho masilela made it big cos he was satisfied wth all he got in israel...the team came looking for him not de ada way round. the choice is yours...u either follow tshepho to legendary status or shaba to pill potatoes

I am sure this boy can do better than Khuboni. But Bafana test matches are critical for may to proof if his skill is transferrable from European to African football style.

E.g Steven Pienaar is performing with excellence when he plays for Evaton because the club technical team knows how to utilise his ability. Tottenham Hotspurs has a different style that put Pienaar on the bench. Here at Bafana, I choose Teko Modise as a right player than Pienaar.

It's clear if Bafana Bafana are to get back to their winning ways & display some attractive excellent footbal, SAFA must fire Pitso, period.

I mean really now, what has he done for the nation in terms of football???

I am also not convinced about this guy. Doubt he'll be player of the season in the psl...he looks average 2me, I don't know what all this fuss is about.
