Chansa could leave Bucs

Posted: 2012-02-11 18:24

Orlando Pirates might face the prospect of losing their influential midfielder Isaac Chansa soon.

The Zambian star has helped his national team qualify for the Final of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon this Sunday. Chansa will play in what will arguably be the match of his career when he lines up against a star-studded Ivory Coast side.

But the Bucs faithful might have to make room in their hearts for disappointment as it seems that Chansa’s days at The Sea Robbers might be numbered.

"Naturally there's an abundance of interest in Isaac given his pioneering form for Orlando Pirates in the last 18 months, which culminated in an unprecedented trophy haul and his recent forays at the Nations Cup,” said Chansa’s agent Ashley Rasool.

Chansa, who joined Pirates in 2004, is in his second spell at the Buccaneers after having left the Soweto giants to pursue a career in Europe with Helsingborg in 2007.

He returned in the 2009/10 season and it seems that he may be headed for European shores once again.

“For the record he is delighted to be part of the current Orlando Pirates set-up and has thoroughly enjoyed their recent successes,” Rasool continues.

“However, to date we have not engaged with Pirates’ management or any other club regarding his future. Perhaps we'll have a clearer picture post Nations Cup.

“For now Isaac's focus is firmly on what possibly may be the most important game of his career."

Chansa said this from his base at the Nations Cup: “We will see what happens when I go back. They [Pirates] told me I have to concentrate on the Africa Cup.

“There are one or two teams that are interested in me and we will know what my future looks like will be when I get back,” Chansa says.

Meanwhile, Rasool was quick to say that they will not be rushed nor fooled into action.

“He [Isaac] is approaching a crucial stage in his career which is why we will not make any hasty decisions regarding his immediate future.”

I would say to Chansa 'stay at Pirates until after we conquer Africa at least ...' imagine how high his stock will rise after winning the AFCON and the African Championship trophies, because that is what is going to happen no ifs whens or buts ... in the meantime good luck tomorrow Chipolopolo.

TreBBoniSta : 2012-02-11 18:59

Chansa knows hore Bucs le yena we are tight. His specifically went to Afcon to gain experience & help us conqure the 2nd star. He told me he is just on loan to Zambia. Shapa Chipolopolo shapaaaa!!!

Sechaba : 2012-02-11 19:28

He will go to Denmark or Sweden dats where the most players from Southern Africa apply their trade.

Tzozo : 2012-02-11 20:09

Truth be told i haven't cn any contribution that this monkey lookalike has made thus far. All i've seen was a wide long range shot from him and ada than that the guy has bin playng kak. The other Psl players in the Zambian team have done very well though.

Mamoduwe : 2012-02-11 20:12

Its quite strange and surprising that this guy hasn't renewed his contract. So he's open to sign a pre-contract with whoever, the lack of interest might tell a story about his level of quality.

@Tzozo the real kak here is YOU! Who set up the winning goal against Ghana in the semis?

Totalfootball : 2012-02-11 20:16

He is used to winning and I quess, just that alone will make him to rise to the occasion and its the winning mentality from Chansa which shall rub in to the rest of the Zambian team.
People tend to forget that its not only about skill or talent but those players who are used to winning at club level always form the integral part a successful national team.
In 1995 Pirates became the champions of Africa and in 1996 South Africa became champions too after about 4 or more players from Pirates were part of that team.
Spain became champions of the world made of about 9 players from Barcelona were part of that team.
So people must know that this Zambian team also have players from TP Mazembe so for them to win AFCON won't be a coincidence.

Totalfootball : 2012-02-11 20:34

Tzozo

If people like you can be clouded by hatred then its a problem.
I wish you could appreciate what Chansa is doing in that team not because he plays for your rival team.

Mamoduwe : 2012-02-12 09:33

@PRINCE, wow I cannot believe I'm being called an idiot and a fool, especially by somebody like yourself who regards himself as being knowledgeable, wise and informed BUT yet fails to do a mere simple thing of backing up his comments with tangible evidence to demonstrate his superior intelligency as well as helping an idiot and a fool like myself to come to a particular conclusion.

First of all, would you Mr. Super IQ be kind enough and help me the idiotic and foolish one with answers.

(a). When Mr. Isaac Chansa was signed in 2009/10 season, was he signed as a free-agent or did Orlando Pirates buy him outright from Helsingborg?
(b). How long was the offer for from Orlando Pirates? Does Orlando Pirates have the first option to renew? Just elaborate on the conditions and the details of that contract that was signed in 2009/10 season please. A FOOL AND AN IDIOT LIKE MYSELF NEEDS HELP.
(c). When was Mr. Isaac Chansa's call up for national duty? When did Zambia start camping? When was the PSL league recess?
(d). @PRINCE, Mr. Clever One, two statements from Mr. Ashley Rasool reads as follows and I quote: _

"However, to date we have not engaged with Pirates' management or any other club regarding his future. Perhaps we'll have a clearer picture post Nations Cup."
_quote.

If Mr. Isaac Chansa has committed himself till 2014 to Orlando Pirates as you Mr-KNOW-IT-ALL boldly and indubitably declare. Why would his official representative utter a reckless statement like the one I just quoted in the media? Wouldn't that demonstrate unprofessionalism or lack of?

Mr. Ashley Rasool continues to say and I quote:_

"He (i.e Isaac Chansa) is approaching a crucial stage in his career which is why we'll not make any hasty decisions regarding his immediate future."
_quote.

Mr. Intelligent please help me I wanna be clever like you Mr. Smarty Pants, why should I deem the above statement as speculation? Help me to interpret so that I won't remain a fool and an idiot.

Anyhow, secondly and finally, I hope you don't find it insulting to engage with fools and idiots like myself who try their level best to go into greater detail about something that has been presented to them in broader details. Thank you.

Swona Champ!: 2012-02-12 09:45

unlike other teams, we dont put too much presure on this boys to sign their contracts before major tournaments, we saw some teams pushing contracts to their players before the world cup becuase they think they will make a lot of money if those players get contracts overseas! we have our way of making cash, if we sell a player is a bonus, should Chansa have been forced to the boardroom about his future before he left for Gabon or EG, he might have been under presure, what of career threatening injury? he know OP, thats why he chose us after Europe, if he gets a good deal abroad, so be it, but he's made a home in Orlando Pirates,

KidKudu7: 2012-02-12 11:06

Please Mr. Editor, check your facts thoroughly before you report...this is no story.

Chansa is going nowhere, period.

The player is still contracted to Pirates.

As big as he is, its a fact that at Pirates he sometimes struggle to break into the starting eleven, ACE+JALI have even forced Chansa to find a new role.

This confirms the quality Pirates has. PIRATES IS A SUPERBRAND WITH A GALAXY OF STARS.

we are a big team on our own n can afford to keep Chansa within the ship.
