Former Bafana Bafana striker Phil Masinga says Sthembiso Ngcobo is the man to solve Kaizer Chiefs’ woes in front of goals.

With the second round of the League set to kick off in six days’ time, Amakhosi are well placed in third position, three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, that position has been attained by a steely resolve in defence rather than a bucketload of goals.

While Chiefs have the joint-best defensive record in the League (having conceded only 10 goals in 15 games), they also have one of the worst records at the attacking end, managing a paltry 16 goals all season. Compare that to Sundowns, who have scored 30.

Bernard Parker and Lehlohonolo Majoro have come in for a lot of flak as a result, but Masinga believes the solution is a relatively simple one – stick Ngcobo in the box.

“Sthembiso wants to do things that he can’t do … he shouldn’t try to do what Parker or Majoro can do like trying to go to the wing and crossing the ball because that is not his strength,” ‘Chippa’ says. “He must be the target-man for the team, so he must know the perimeters of his role.

“He is capable of being the main man as long as he sticks to what he does best … being the box striker.”

Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic will do well to heed Masinga’s advice; as it stands, Parker has managed only two goals in 16 matches, while Majoro has four in 13. Ngcobo has two goals in the games he has played.

Does K.O pay their experts/a n.a.lysts or they just give them publicity? With respect to to Bra Chippa, but the seems to be the same a.n.l.ysts, with ovious sponsored views.

It's either Masinga or Fish going on. Kanti, where are the likes of Jerry Skhosana, Bartlett, Williams, Linda Buthelezi, Shoes Mosheou, Mkhelele, Zane Moosa, Ndlanya et al. Infact, Trompies was best target man/cow SA produced and punished our local defenders. Thus can speak better about this target zebra.

You are right Phil, Ncgobo was not given a chance by Kaizer's new adopted son VV- I think if Ncgobo played regularly he would be the best- just that he appears a cow because he is under pressure to perfom. If he scores two goals today, tomorrow he is on the bench- tell me how is that motivating a player to do well... VV has destroyed Chiefs, pity ou chairman is still in dreamland!

Jerry Leg of Thunder, I once met the guy on a train to Kaalfontein, i think he was going to train his ameteur club in Esselen Park- he was in a bad condition, I am sure he did noit even have a ticket then. But that was 3 years ago!!!

Mr Masinga have you perhaps looked @ why Ngcobo drifts to the wing?? maybe its because the wanted supply does not reach him as Shabba tends to come from the middle more than the wing and the less said about Dladla and Masango the better so before fingers gets pointed @ the Strikers lets first look @ the supply...

Chiefs should have signed RM and a creative player in the Mould of Zothwane or Nkosi that would have atleast solved their problems till end of the season as Yende has failed dismally in that regard.

Masinga knows that he played similar game as Sthembiso and I for one don't doubt Sthembiso, is just that he misses clear cut chances but that also tells you about his good positioning in the box. Agg we will wait and see while others are assured of the remaining cup and league before they play matches.

What Phil Masinga is saying is something I have been saying all along.

I said it many a times that Chiefs is not playing Ncgobo according to his strength.

Ncgobo is not 1-2 pass player but rather someone who need to be fed crosses.

I even said if there were 5 Majoros,the moegoe coach will buy all & replace them with each other.

I won't agree with Masinga when he says Ncgobo is trying to do more than his ability,what if he's taking instructions from the bench?

Let me start by saying thanks once again to Kickoff for the soccer news and updates we getting served with everyday on this site.

After some consideration and comparison between our forums and other forums e.g ****nal supporters forum it saddens me to see the huge difference in a sense that we South Africans tend to take advantage of the platform given to us to ABUSE and MISUSE the facilities by insulting our own coaches, players, opposition supporters and our team’s management. If you put yourself in the shoes of the likes of e.g Shabalala who is been called “Nyawana”, Ndulula who is been called “used condom”, and all the other guys who are been called names, how would you feel mara he???

A forum is made for us supporters to work hand in hand with the technical team for the betterment of our beloved teams. There is nothing wrong in criticizing and giving nicknames but let us do it professionally and constructively. I do not think that most players, coaches or any team management take us supporters seriously anymore because of our own doing on our respective forums, that is why most bloggers use fake/multiple usernames to logon sites.

Excuse my English, it is not my mother tongue after all.

The best box strike we have is Kaizer Jnr, as much as I don't like his overall contrubution to the game, but when it comes to be in the box. He always gets into contact with Shabba's crosses, but we need a right winger who can cross or come close to Shabba's quality. Then we will be dangerous. Mapholoba was good with Musona, they had an excellent understanding.
