Fabio Capello resigns

Posted: 2012-02-08 22:15

The FA has confirmed that Fabio Capello has resigned from his post as England manager with immediate effect.

The Italian has stepped down after falling out with the Football Association over their decision to strip Chelsea defender John Terry of the Three Lions captaincy

The Italian, whose reign was set to end after Euro 2012, had been angered by the FA’s decision to step in and remove John Terry as the national team’s captain, making comments on TV in Italy declaring his displeasure at the move.

And after a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne on Wednesday, Capello stepped down.

A statement on The FA’s official website read: “The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England Manager.

“This follows a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, FA General Secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.

“The discussions focused on The FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview.

“In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect.”

Despite the bitter end to Capello’s time as England manager, Bernstein moved to thank the former AC Milan and Real Madrid boss for his efforts and professionalism while at the helm.

He said: “I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision.

“We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

Well, this happened in the earlier part of the evening.

Nonetheless Capello knew he won't achieve anything with England & he used John Terry' issue as a scapegoat to attack FA.

Since his tenure,he has used over 70 players for England & 40 for this coming Euro.

Apparently he was not sure of his starting line for the Euro & let alone who he will pick for this tournament coming in 4 months.

Because money is route of all evil,he was supposed to quit after 2010 disaster but leaving so early would have cost him a £6 M a year deal with FA.

With only 4 months to go he made a logical choice.

This is not only a lesson to England about foreign coaches,South Africa is going through this because of the work of Carlos Alberto Pereira & his Santana cousin.

If ever those who say Pitso is at fault, then why are this 2 being overlooked as this is what they started.

Mostly I point a finger to Carlos for bringing his friend who was rather willing to collect a cheque than shaping a team.

English FA is just as stupid same life SAFA...with just 4 months before the Euro Championships, they let the man who's been masterminding their success on the field.

No wonder English & South African football is going nowhere...it is ruled by morons.

Breacking news ? This is not breacking new but is a "GOOD NEWS" Fabio is a failure like his friend Mosimane,Capello sapoz to resign early after he fail in world cup to go the semi-final stage

Swona Champ!: 2012-02-09 08:40

think pitso must learn from the best, he must follow suit! SAFA, Senegal just fired their coach, advice: a national coach cen get a boot any time of the season, for his job is not weekly, he can spend two months without a game!

Well i'm not suprised at all, dis was a well calculated move by da english. On da same day Redknap was cleared of tax evasion allegations, nd its an open secret dat he is tipped by many in england 2 take over da reigns as the 3 lions coach.

As for calls to SAFA 2 do da same with Pitso, one would lyk 2 differ. Da reason why FA let Fabio to leave was dat he resigned,nd yes he was summoned to account on his utterances into JT saga as he was obviously not satisfied with da decision to strip JT captaincy. In our case we have one of da most complicated situations where ders internal squabbles in SAFA, nd da rift between SAFA nd PSL affecting our futbal. Pls neva compare FA nd SAFA dey r too different. I still maintain dat if Pitso can get proper support frm SAFA nd PSL our tim cn perform much beta, nd we r not far behind compared to what is dished-out at da AFCON currently. SA supporter must also cum to da party nd emulate da english, as dey always supported Fabio nd da tim even when the odds were against dem.

Fabio protect the racist and friend betrayer John Terry? Where I stand, though not my business- he can voetsek and and big up to the English FA for not tolerating mischiefs from Terry- i am sure if Suarez was English he would be fired as well.

Food for Thought: Sometimes I dont understand racism- I mean if someone hates you and calls you names in a "racist way", why cant you hate them back and call them names in a "racist way" instead of crying a victim of racism; why do whites seldom cry of racism, and is only us "blacks"- makes one wonder?- Unless, of course, racism is not just a blur word and has some economic connotations (i.e. manifested in the history of economics and capital). And I always wonder why homeless people of different colours live in peace in the streets- they share one thing and that is survival in the streets... maybe if I can be a hobo i will notice racism within the homeless as well... hmmm?

We r now waiting on our FA to release Pitso 4rm his contract he failed to qualify for the nations cup so how can we rely on him 2 take us 2 brazil, he only sees Mpela as the only striker whilst his failed to give SA under23 leading goalscorer a chance opting for useless Nontsinga nd out of form Mojoro, so I bliv he shud follow. SAFA PITSO IMMEDIATLY!!!!! Supporters plea

MIKASA: 2012-02-09 13:00

Not a wise decision by the English FA,the shud have let the guy stay until afta EUro 2012,this is pure foolishness, the FA wil regret this mark my words...as for Mosimane he must step down b4 da Brazil qualifiers bcoz he wil disgrace us,atleast Cappello took England to da world cup and Euro 2012
