Ertugral: New players settling in well

Golden Arrows coach Muhsin Ertugral says the players he brought in during the January transfer window are settling in well.

The club signed six players ahead of the resumption of League action on February 15.

"The new guys are doing well; they fit in here well. You know we just do not make signings for the sake of it, we spot these players. We believe they can play the brand of football we want to play," Ertugral says.

"These players will bring competition into the squad and that is healthy for any coach."

Ertugral admits he was not happy with certain areas in the side resulting in the number of signings he made.

"As a team sport you are only as good as the weakest link in your squad. And with injuries and suspensions we could not compromise. I think the biggest weakness was the goalkeeping department. We have fixed that and I am happy now.

"I must thank the club for helping me get my wish list. Our next step is getting results," he says.

Ertugral says he is working particularly hard with Siphelele Mthembu. The former Orlando Pirates striker, who has struggled with injuries, is fully fit now.

"I think he is one of the most talented players in South Africa. He has had a lot of injuries; you cannot grow as a player while sitting in the stands. He has missed three or four of the important years of his footballing life but hopefully we can put that right."

"He will get more game time here and I think he will be really important for us in the coming season. I will not put too much pressure on him over the next six months but we are definitely trying to revive his career," he adds.

This is the most self overating coach.

I'm sure other coaches sign for a reason as well.
