Ayew pumped up for Zambia test

Posted: 2012-02-07 13:37

Andre Ayew says Ghana are fired up for their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final meeting against Zambia and claims the Black Stars will put in another battling display on Wednesday.

The 22-year old has played a key role for Ghana at the tournament so far and says the side must put in another solid shift if they are to get past Zambia into their second successive Nations Cup final.

Ayew who is one of five players in the Ghana side who lost the Final against Egypt two years ago, and while the Ghana team are desperate to make up for the failing from two years ago, he says it is important to focus on the first things first.

"We are not thinking of the final before Zambia comes before that and we must beat Zambia to play in that. At this moment all are thinking of is a very good Zambia team who have won a lot of respect here from the way they have played," he told KickOffGhana.com.

"We know it will be difficult. They have had a day's rest more than us and we have had to travel over but on the field we will make sure it will not matter. We have to battle and fight for every ball as we have done throughout the tournament.  If we work as hard as have then hopefully we will play in the final."

Ghana will be looking to reach their second straight Nations Cup final, something they have not achieved since playing in four successive finals in 1963, 1965, 1968 and 1970.

I read the disgusting statement the Ghanian assistant coach made after their game with Tunisia;'Appiah slams Tunisia behaviour'.Ghana assistant coach Kwesi Appiah was disappointed with Tunisia’s aggressive behaviour as the Black Stars ran out 2-1 winners in extra time in their AFCON quarter-finals on Sunday

He went further to state that; Appiah said after the game: “This wasn’t the best for African football.
“Their tackles and behaviour need to be looked at very well by the authorities.”
But Mr. Appiah am not being biased, please could you go back to your archives and watch the last Match Nigeria played against Ghana, how aggressive your team was on the Nigerian team who outclassed them. Watch as one of your players pocked his fingers into Mikel Obis' eyes in the nate of trying to frustrate Nigerian tean so as to win...So you now can see how it hurts....

YAWNING !!!!! Chicolocolo sorry whatever the name is, but the zambia team will have to wait for another time, because I see them loosing against my blood team Ghana Black Stars. You could see from our last three tournaments we featured in, and we showed our class to the whole world. Ghana is winning the tournament, and we are not at this tournament to play fine ball, what matters most is the team work and the spirit in it. Ghana 3 Chicolocolo 0
