Orlando Pirates are ready for Nedbank Cup challenge

Bucs ready to defend Nedbank Cup title

Orlando Pirates coach Julio Leal will give Vodacom League side EThekwini Coastal FC the respect they deserve when they meet in the Nedbank Cup.  

Unlike last season when they faced Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening match, Pirates this time have been handed a seemingly easier draw.

Leal says they will prepare for the game against the minnows like against any Premiership team.
 
"We can’t choose which team to play but I think it’s a good draw for both teams. We know the area [KwaZulu-Natal] always produces good players and teams that play good football. We will give the team the respect they deserve, but we will be victorious.”
 
The coach will rely on his 'spies' in KZN to help overcome their opponents.
 
"We have a lot of good players who played in finals last season and have learnt how important it is to win this tournament. We will engage our spies on the coast; as you know that the Nedbank Cup has got its surprises. But if you know your opponents and you know yourself you are in the good position to win the game."
 
The Buccaneers are chasing their third trophy this season after already winning the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 tournaments.
 
Pirates won three trophies last season and part of their ambition this year is to also win the CAF Champions League.
 
"We are not going to give priority to any competition as all of them are very important. We will take it one match at a time and apply the same strategy to win the treble again this season," Leal says.

I am so dissapointed with this draw.

I wanted Sundowns, so that we can reduce them to nothing.

Though our priorities is CAF Champions league, we cannot afford not to bring in another TREBLE.

I cant wait to watch MY GALAXY OF STARS with the new sensation Miyeni, Nomdikhoni wami Umshumayeli, ubani ikhehla Morte.

Orlando Pirates are famously known for being the only team in South Africa to win the most prestigious African title, the CAF Champions League in 1995.

@king... As confident as u re I was hoping u were not gonna talk abt what we call a gud spell. Something like a roadblock, or christmas which cums 1c a year. Pirates is 1 big team who is holding a longest dry spell in terms of silverware. 2003 - 2011.

But beating pirates is no joy to downs, it just another victory. 1 champagne dat it. Few plain rolls, just like a picnic. No celebrations at all.

pirates has 57 players which most of them are not registered. We all know that government does give grant when u re registered to be employed. Dat y the likes of MaCafe' Legwathi, boa morta, Mpandlana, snoek josephs and many more. And another sets which is still register as reserve team player while playing for first team. Pirates training grounds has floors, after they run out of space. Up the Md.. I mean Bucs
