Orlando Pirates are ready for Nedbank Cup challenge

Posted: 7 February 2012 Time: 07:18

Orlando Pirates coach Julio Leal will give Vodacom League side EThekwini Coastal FC the respect they deserve when they meet in the Nedbank Cup.

Unlike last season when they faced Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening match, Pirates this time have been handed a seemingly easier draw.

CLICK HERE for the Nedbank Cup draw.   Leal says they will prepare for the game against the minnows like against any Premiership team.   "We can’t choose which team to play but I think it’s a good draw for both teams. We know the area [KwaZulu-Natal] always produces good players and teams that play good football. We will give the team the respect they deserve, but we will be victorious.”   The coach will rely on his 'spies' in KZN to help overcome their opponents.   "We have a lot of good players who played in finals last season and have learnt how important it is to win this tournament. We will engage our spies on the coast; as you know that the Nedbank Cup has got its surprises. But if you know your opponents and you know yourself you are in the good position to win the game."   The Buccaneers are chasing their third trophy this season after already winning the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 tournaments.   Pirates won three trophies last season and part of their ambition this year is to also win the CAF Champions League.   "We are not going to give priority to any competition as all of them are very important. We will take it one match at a time and apply the same strategy to win the treble again this season," Leal says.

Three trophies to go (Nedbank, League and Champions league), two already in the bag. A treble is possible Mabhakaniya. Champions League is my priority although I will love to defend the League and the Nedbank.

Defending all cups won , and clinching champions league is a mission possible. But as the coach stated, one game at a time.

I am so dissapointed with this draw.

I wanted Sundowns, so that we can reduce them to nothing.

Though our priorities is CAF Champions league, we cannot afford not to bring in another TREBLE.

I cant wait to watch MY GALAXY OF STARS with the new sensation Miyeni, Nomdikhoni wami Umshumayeli, ubani ikhehla Morte.

Manyisa "The Rocket Scientist" n Andile "The Lion King" will continue their business. The JUJU man must bring in those crucial goals, We love you JUJU.

I will like to quote the EThekwini Coastal FC coach, "this is a bad draw for us, i was hoping to draw the Mvela & Vodacom everyday meal, the overrated bankrupt Bobby Business....now i am sure we are out. We just have to try our level best to avoid a netball score."

@KO editors,

News run that mafias at Safa were caught righ handed raping our football and all you reports is about rats all day. We need news guys, Mr Sedibe spilled the beans yesterday and all you do is write about Rick flair and his mafiozo club; all we can know is that the oldest mafia in the country is also implicated in the crimes against our football, and humanity!
