Nedbank Cup last 32 draw

Posted: 2012-02-06 20:25

The current Nedbank Cup holders Orlando Pirates will kick off the defence of their title with an away fixture against Vodacom League side, Ethekwini Coastal FC, following the draw on Monday night.

Bucs' perennial rivals Kaizer Chiefs have a home fixture against Cape Town All Stars, while the Mpumalanga Derby between Black Aces and Witbank Spurs will certainly be exciting to watch.

United FC have to wait for February 18, when they will find out the team they will face with Gauteng’s Vardos FC playing either Umthatha Liverpool or A1 Stars FC from the Eastern Cape in a play-off match.

Clubs will battle it out for the main prize of R6 million as well as a spot in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

Little known Baroka FC’s conquests in last year’s event saw them account for two PSL giants in the form of Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs.

Who will be the Baroka FC of 2012?

The full draw: (teams mentioned first will play at home)

Golden Arrows v North West Shining Stars
EThekwini Coastal FC v Orlando Pirates
Free State Stars v Sivutsa Stars
Santos v University of Pretoria
Maritzburg United v Bloemfontein Celtic
Roses United v Bay United
SAFA play-off winner v United FC
Batau FC v SuperSport United
African Warriors v Jomo Cosmos
Moroka Swallows v Bidvest Wits
MP Black Aces v Witbank Spurs
Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town All Stars
Platinum Stars v The Dolphins
Black Leopards v Blackburn Rovers
Amazulu v Ajax Cape Town
Powerlines FC v Mamelodi Sundowns

The PSL will announce the venues and dates at a later stage.

One thing that I won't stop talking about is the inefficiency of Psl in sorting venues on time as the draw are being done.

I'm sure this is not difficult to ask the teams on time before this draw of their preferred home venues or even if its the responsibility of the committee & psl to sort this out.

Coming back to Nedbank Cup draw:looking how in the past this tournament had finals featuring 1st division teams vs psl teams, some of this games are Finals amongst themselves already.

Ke Yona!

Ok the gud thing abt our game is away. Am sure the whole community is waiting for yellow. Like every corner of umzansi there is a hobbo and a gundwane.
Am sure the powerlines players are already doing i-Mohwark kaModise. It is so famous even Wayne Rooney gave i-Wambley Stadium ekhanda wakheto izinto zaboModise and co. Powelines as humble as we are and yellow as we remain. We will bring all our stars, children are welcome and adult for autographs. The churches and ngo's are also welcome to share the yellow spirit. To powerlines, the community will forever thank u for bringing yellow into theirs lives.

mhlonitjhwa : 2012-02-06 22:02

Wandile : 2012-02-07 08:18

VV is reported to have bought a right hand glove, mimicking the Baroka coach Sello who wore a left hand glove when embarrassing Zebras.

VV was quoted as saying "You know. Ah what applies to the left hand applies to the right hand. Ah you know. Ah we ar going to get it right this time. Ah u know".
