The interest in the Africa Cup of Nations hasn't completely evaporated in the country despite Bafana Bafana's failure to qualify for the continent's premier football competition.
Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Sangweni has been keeping keen interest in the proceedings at the Afcon.
While he is keeping keen interest on close buddy Joseph Musonda who is doing duty for Zambia Sangweni believes it is actually Chipolopolo's semi-final opponents Ghana who will go on and win the tournament.
"I have been following the tournament with keen interest because there are players playing in the tournament that I know very well like my friend Joseph," says Sangweni.
"I obviously have a soft spot for Zambia based on the fact that they are a team with several players that I know. I wish them well and will be happy to see them win the tournament. However, a part of me tells me that Ghana should win this tournament. I actually believe they have the capacity to win it. If Ghana plays to its full potential then I see nobody stopping them because they have the squad," says Sangweni.
Chipolopolo face up against the Black Stars on Wednesday evening in the first semi-final with Mali squaring up with Ivory Coast in the other last four encounter.
SuperSport United's Ghanaian midfielder John Arwuah says though he is obviously happy that the Black Stars are in the last four he is not excited about the way they have been playing.
"Though we are getting the results and moving on I don't like the way we are playing. It is just not the Ghana style. However, since this is a tournament as long as we are getting results we will just move on. We have to keep moving as this is our best chance to win the tournament with this crop of players that we have now as the only big team that is a threat to our title intentions is Ivory Coast," says Arwuah.
The former Maritzburg United anchorman adds that he foresees an interesting tie against Zambia on Wednesday.
"That should one tough match because the Zambians are playing and enjoying their football at the tournament. I just hope Dede Ayew keeps on delivering like he has doing. I have also been impressed by John Boye at the back," he adds.
