Zifa banning all 80 again

Zifa president Cuthbert Dube did another U-turn last night, resulting in the Asiagate banning circus doing a 180.
Heads are spinning in the KickOff.com office, as news filters through from Zimbabwe that Dube has retracted his earlier statement – "only three players will be banned" – and confirmed that the suspension will affect all implicated players.

Dube said on Wednesday that only Thomas Sweswe (Kaizer Chiefs), Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali (both Mamelodi Sundowns) would be banned, because of their lacklustre display in the Warriors Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Verde.
But now the Zifa president has retracted his earlier statement, confirming that all 80 players will be banned (including, presumably, Ajax Cape Town's Khama Billiat, who was on the original list of suspended players).
This despite Dube's earlier concerns that doing so would interfere with the independent Ethics Committee, which had been appointed to investigate Asiagate.
As reported by Newsday, Dube's statement last night read:
Zifa would like to confirm that all players fingered in the Asiagate scandal report are ineligible for call-ups for national teams until they are cleared by the Zifa Independent Disciplinary Ad-Hoc Committee.
The association invites the players in question to come forward and volunteer information on their involvement in the infamous trips between now and mid-February.
The information which the players shall volunteer shall be treated with the strictest confidentiality. Players willing to make appointments for the meetings with the association shall do so through the office of the chief executive officer.
The association would like to reiterate that the exclusion of the players fingered in the Asiagate report scandal is by no means a ban, but a temporary suspension until the players have been cleared by the Independent Disciplinary Committee.
