Siphiwe Tshabalala says he was not pressured to sign contract extension at Kaizer Chiefs

Shabba: I was not pressured

Posted: 2012-02-02 12:20

Siphiwe Tshabalala says he is not bitter about not managing to secure an overseas contract.

'Shabba' recently signed a three-year contract extension at Kaizer Chiefs, depsite English Championship club Crystal Palace hinting they could offer him a contract in June.

The Bafana Bafana vice captain created a media storm when he asked Amakhosi boss Kaizer Motaung for "three days to conteplate my future", but ultimately went to the prudent option, signing on the dotted line for Chiefs.

In an interview on Chiefs official website, Shabba says he is happy to have extended his stay at the club, describing it as his "second home".

Do you think Shabba made the right decision? Have your say on Facebook HERE!

In his meeting with Kaizer Motaung last week, Tshabalala gave "his word" that he would only leave Chiefs if the offer came from an overseas club.

According to the player, the Chiefs chairman "… told me that if something comes up he will not stand on my way."

Shabba insists he was never put under pressure to sign the extension: "I should make it clear that it was my decision to stay with the team … I am grateful to my manager, Jazzman Mahlakgane. He was very supportive throughout the process.

"I also want to make it clear to the fans that I am not bitter that I have not managed to get a contract in Europe. I am happy that I will be playing in front [the fans]. I share the ambition to win trophies with this club with them."

Well done Mshengu, you one of the few quality players we have @ Chiefs, Bobsteak's hellbent on destroying our beloved team, while our rivals were busy in the market, he was looking around to try and identify players' whose contracts are coming to and end so he could lure them to Naturena, he oughtta be ashamed of himself!!!!!!!

I am not getting seriously bored by Kickoff' recycling' of stories without breaking 'scoops', I can't remember the last time I saw the 'scoop' from KickOff, only 'recycled' stories, at first we criticise KickOff with 'plagiarism' and at least now they acknowledge their information sources (that is, team's Web site).

I keep on accessing this utterly boring Web site hoping to see 'scoop' but one is met with 'recycled' stories. Soccer Laduma has at least 'spies' in each and every team, why can't you at least pay spies to tell you
________

On Shabba's extension of contract, it is within his right to do so, I am surprised that Orlando Pirates supporters are bitter, some going to an extent of saying "you will die a Chiefs man...", as if their team sell players overseas, when was the last time Pie-rats export a player?

Who are you trying to fool wena Nyawana? You will only fool Chips fans not all of us. You and I know that you signed that contract with Bobby pointing a gun to your head, if you were not presured then as you claim, what took you so long to decide? Bobby said to you "You sign this contract or else"?????, "you go to Mbombela and ask the Mohlala family what happens if you don't take my orders"

Molifi!I agree with you & I always lament the lazy work that get done by Kickoff.

I just feel on this business 80% of you stories should be your own as a publisher & the remaining 20% from sources.

You can judge for urself on this one since the morning.

The problem is not everyone relies on Kickoff for stories. Some of us can see where this stories are coming from as we check all the main source we know.

Please guys don't tell me what I'm doing reading Kickoff then because most of you complain about Sabc &they still watch.

3 days or deal is off the table. Thats what is defined as pressure to decide. Fact that Chiefs is the only team that could afford your wages and give you game time is testimony to this.

Other teams who can afford your wages are Pirates and Sundowns, but you would have to content yourself with a bench at either team.

Pressure of the contract being off the table finally got to you and you signed

I think he-Tshabalala has done the good thing buy renewing his
contract with Chiefs, the team has done wonders for him n been supporting same goes to Khune...the thing of jumping ships end up kiling players.
As for Europe move I think its now a little too late for him, the is no place like home-Shabba must remain n stick to Chiefs. Chiefs fans thank God you didn't loose these 2 players otherwise.........

Nyawana, please dont lie here...you have failed your trials overseas, period.

Ntsako : 2012-02-02 13:48

Shabba should never despair. The fact that he managed to drive a Range Rover, a BMW X6 and BMW M3 while playing for Chiefs shows that our football has grown and our players do not necessarily need to play in Europe for them to earn a good living.

bold: 2012-02-02 13:57

nespray JUST by your name i can see you watch to much movies. wake up this is life and kune realities. He is better than your left Back + wing at Bucs. he will never be poor the way you want him to be. Shaba is human maybe if you leave that play station of your and Remember 2010 opening goal. perfect balance by the Right leg.....and you were smiling all day until your right footed Mbazo killed the lead.

Sweyts : 2012-02-02 14:21

But Ntsako, that reasoning leaves a lot to be desired........Driving those cars only means that he's credit worthy, but not necessarilly wealthy mos.

You can also drive an X-6 if you want it's just another car, I'd rather have 3 hot mansions and drive a Datsun Laurel ye-scrap like eka-King leyama seat wase khishini, but that's me ofcourse....mh.

Soccer players are not the smartest of people maar yaz', imagine Shabba owning so many cars, and only one house in Naturena next to Diepkloof Prison. Nc.nc .nc.

Pierre: 2012-02-02 14:34

@Lesogo point of correction, all our players are quality at Chiefs. Chiefs back four is very solid compared to other teams, middlefield players are all quality and is upfront where they need few additions because the current players are scoring goals. The proble of scoring is a South African problem not only at Chiefs that is why you see top goal scorer being foreigners most of the time in the PSL. Read Laduma of yesterday you will see the assessmet of Zim players by Ted, Eddie Dihna, Edzai Kasinayo and William Mugeyi. They all agree they are quality players and are technically more advanced than our own players. This dispel a notion that Zim players are not quality even though Sweswe, Method, Jambo, Mushekwi, Nyandoro, Nengomashe, Zvasiya are performing well week in and week out for Chiefs and Sundowns. you tell me of a South African player who have lasted longer than Nyandoro and Nengomashe in their teams. Lesego quality is about where you come from but the ability to put a consistent performance for your teams every season.

Jealous Down: 2012-02-02 14:37

@ Sweyts can you afford any of those cars? Not every Tom, Dick and Harry like you can afford any of those cars, not now and not anytime in next 40 years. You'll just read them on magazines!

KING?: 2012-02-02 14:39

a paraplegic has signed with Chiefs because no other team showed interest.

Chiefs fans stop living in the past and stand up for your team.

Pierre: 2012-02-02 14:39

@Nespray Shabba did not even have the intention to playe for either Pirates or Sundowns, his focus was abroad. No Chiefs star still in their peak can want to leave Chiefs for those two, it only those who are about to retire or the team does not intend to renew their contract. Chiefs allowed Masenamela to join Sundowns because they signed Richie and they know that they have the capable Jambo.

Jealous Down: 2012-02-02 14:41

@a retard King goes again. Are you aware that Sifiso Myeni was forced by his Parents to join Pirates his preference was Chiefs, Are also awrae that Chiefs approached Tottenham Hotspurs and Bongani Khumalo's managers with an intetion to sign him? Chiefs fans have as much right to believe that they are the best, just like Pirates fans or any other team for that matter. Fact is, we are all subjective and our opinions are always gonna be biased towards our team, sure, Pirates is playing the best futbol at the moment and as a Chiefs fan I concede to that but things could turn around in the future, I'd like to see if you're man enough to give credit to Chiefs when they do well (win trophies), without insinuating that they bribed the ref or used underhand tactics UNLESS if you can prove it, that's a challenge for you boss. Loving Chiefs doesn't mean we have to agree with everything they do, I for one don't do Blind Loyalty, I criticize the team if I feel they not doing well, constructive criticism, that's the difference!

Let me help you with facts here so that we don't get too excited yeah:

1. Ace Khuse played in Turkey for a long time
2. I remember Pirates crying that Chiefs stole him from them when
was at the peak of his career, now i don't know of any player who
plays forever, you have to hang up your boots at some point.
3. Vic Matfield is a champ yes but PAUL ADAMS? Are you for real bra,
what did he win, let me educate you a bit, I'm a cricket fan and
Paul Adams struggled to command a regular place in that PATHETIC

@Phunyuka Bang'phethe: Thanks for the "free" lesson in football. However, I have one simple question. As Kaizer Chimps and PSL's long standing record breaking assistant coach, when is Khuse finally going to be promoted to Head Coach possition? Is it becoz Kaizer snr once declared that no Black South African coach is fit enuf to coach his team? If it's not issuing Zims free SA IDs to come reside here, Kaizer's also had the audacity to bring Tom, Dick and Harry of every foreign White coach to come retire her in Mzansi. Dolezar, Mazinyo Dot Q, Ertugral and the list goes on. Guarantee, VV will stay her in Mzansi and open a restaurant bizniss and never go back to serbia.

On another note, you're one of a few Chiefs bloggers that talks football sense sometimes.
