Katlego Mphela may have missed out on a move to Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window, but he may yet be leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in the near future.

KickOff.com has learnt that The Brazilians rejected three bids from overseas for the Bafana Bafana striker this past month, including one from Belgian side Standard Liege and another from an unnamed Turkish club.
The reason for the failed bids was because it did not meet Sundowns’ valuation of the 27-year-old; all the offers were for €1-million (R10-million), whereas the club wants closer to €1.7-million (R17-million).
Mphela’s business manager, Glyn Binkin, confirms the bids, and says that Sundowns were well within their rights to turn the bids down.
“Sundowns were not unreasonable; they have a certain valuation for Katlego and those bids did not meet it. That is totally understandable,” he tells KickOff.com.
“They are committed to giving Katlego his chance to play overseas. Last year [in June] they turned down a R15-million bid from Maccabi Haifa, though I’m sure if another offer like that comes in they might consider it.”
And Binkin says all is not yet lost for his client.
“I am currently working on something in Russia and China, where the transfer windows are still open. We are hopeful of getting something sorted but, if it doesn’t, Katlego is very much committed to his job at Sundowns.”
