Elias Pelembe ready to star for Mamelodi Sundowns

Pelembe wants to ‘repay supporters’

With his immediate future now sorted, Elias Pelembe says he is keen to start focusing on his game and help Mamelodi Sundowns to some long overdue silverware.

The Mozambique international’s name was the most significant in the PSL’s January transfer window. With his contract due to expire in June and seemingly no headway made in negotiations, the likes of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were tipped to swoop in and snap him up.

But Pelembe says his heart was always with The Brazilians, hence his decision to commit to a new three-and-a-half year contract.

“I’m very excited that I will be here for the next three years, and possibly more,” he says in the latest edition of KICK OFF Magazine.

“You must know one thing about me; my heart has always been with Sundowns. It’s just that some people made assumptions about my future since I had not renewed my contract yet.”

Now Pelembe wants to repay the fans’ loyalty and help Sundowns to a first piece of silverware since 2007.

“I think it is about time that we start winning in order to repay our supporters. I am prepared to put in the extra work to contribute to the team’s success,” he adds.

“The League becomes tougher in the second half, and we are not the only ones who want to win it, but I know that we want it more than anyone.

“It will be difficult, but with the kind of players we have, I have no reason to doubt that Mamelodi Sundowns are up for the challenge.”

Sundowns doesn't generate revenue from gate takings like the other broke team from nazoorena who are struggling recently because their motor mouthed supporters no longer go to the stadium like they used to. We do not have to fill the stadium in order for our players to get paid. Sundowns does not depend on merchandise sales to boost team's coffers like another team. I really like what AMA-china have done with that zebra jersey. They sell it for R40 rands. Ha ha ha.

For seven full years pirates supporters disguised themselves as sandawanas, our inspiration was the only thing they daydreamt about.
When i first started logging onto kickoff- i thought KING was a anointed member of the yellow family judging by his comments back then.
Their fluke treble last season must've reminded them of their true colours.
Anyways- The most balanced team in the league is Sundowns- we only signed one player who will fit in perfectly like a glove- this means that with almost no distractions ourcombinations are still the same as before, only Barcelona and Sundowns are gutty enough to play the 4-3-3 formation. as a results we've scored more goals then any other team in the league.
Can't wait to see Doctor Mampuru at right back again.
