Zambia midfielder Isaac Chansa believes that the Chipolopolo can progress to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals for the first time since 1996, based on how well they have been playing.
The southern Africans topped Group A following two victories and a draw, emerging with seven points and defeating pre-tournament favourites Senegal 2-1 in their opening match.
"We can realise our semi-final dreams," said Chansa while speaking to reporters.
"This time it is our target that we want to go further and continue with our brilliant performance," Chansa announced.
In the 2010 edition Zambia qualified to the Afcon quarter-finals for the first time since they came third in 1996.
"If we get to the final it will be a plus for us and if we get there anything can happen," the Orlando Pirates midfielder said.
"Two years ago we went to the quarter-finals where we lost to Nigeria but we learnt a lesson from last time," Chansa said.
"This time around we are with the same team, but more experience and yes we do have young players and brilliant players and they are doing fantastic for the team."
Zambia will face second place finishers from Group B, Sudan, on Saturday in the quarter-finals, after they defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 on Monday night.
