Nigeria junior international Daniel Chima Uchechi has agreed a deal to join Aberdeen on a two and a half year contract.
The 22 year-old arrived at Pittodrie for trials with the modest expectations. A loan deal until the end of the season, with the option of a permanent deal was the initial arrangement, but manager Craig Burley and assistant Archie Knox were so impressed he was immediately offered the permanent deal.
Uchechi, who joins from Nigerian club FC Dender, has spent most of his playing career in England.
He began with Charlton Athletic before moving to West Ham but then returned to Nigeria to join FC Dender in Nigeria.
From there, he was loaned first to Leicester City, and more recently to Sheffield Wednesday.
Uchechi was scheduled for trials at Pittodrie during the summer, but turned up to sign for the League One club until January, but the loan spell was cut short in November after he made only one appearance under Gary Megson.
He told KickOffNigeria.com it was a matter or playing philosophies. "They watch you play and they like what they see and sign you. They you get there, and they change the system. I am not suited to the route one long ball.
"I want to play with the ball at my feet and I am happy to be at a club that wants to play football the right way," he said.
