Matthew Pattison could join Scottish Premier League club Hibernian after failing to earn a deal at Leeds United.
The 25-year-old Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder went on trial with the English Championship club last week but was informed by manager Simon Grayson that he wouldn’t be signing.
But a statement from Sundowns released on Saturday morning confirmed that Edinburgh-based Hibs will take a look at the former Newcastle and Norwich player with a view to offering him a contract.
“Matthew Pattison will continue with his quest for a contract in the UK following an indication that he may not be offered a contract by Leeds United,” it reads.
“The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder will now go to Scottish outfit Hibernian, where he will feature in trials and a game on January 30. Mamelodi Sundowns have given consent for the trials.”
Pattison is looking to return to the UK after moving to the PSL from Norwich in 2009. He has also attended trials in Russia and agent Paul Mitchell from Siyavuma Sports Agency admits Hibs are not the only club in the frame for his signature.
“He’s going there on Monday to have a look around and there is also interest in him from other countries,” says Mitchell.
“We should know more by then but it’s a good chance for Matthew to get a move back to the UK.”
