KickOff.com has picked up that AmaZulu have thrown out of the window Mamelodi Sundowns’ advances for their defender-cum-midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni.
Apparently Sundowns raised a hand of interest in Sangweni after watching him put up a convincing showing in national team colours in the recent training match against Ghana.
Sangweni has also shown his qualities in the national Under-23 squad.
Player agent Ali Tlhoaele, who had been tasked with facilitating the deal, confirms there was interest, but it was immediately shot down by Usuthu.
“There was interest from Sundowns but AmaZulu were just not interested,” says Tlhoaele.
The 22-year-old will now continue with his stay at AmaZulu, where he has a running contract for the next three years.
Meanwhile, Usuthu have extended the contract of Congolese defender Belux Bukasa Kasonga for a further year with an option of yet another season.
Usuthu have also parted ways with Ntuthuko Dlamini and Gavin Hammers – both of whom had been transfer listed by the club.
Both players have been handed their clearances after agreeing to a settlement with Hammers already having flown to Cape Town where he could start a trial with Vasco da Gama.
Midfielder Bonginkosi Nxumalo, who had also been transfer-listed, has been pushed down to the club’s feeder team Durban Warriors on loan for the rest of the season.
An agreement could not be reached on another transfer listed player Muziwandile Khwela, who will, however, not be allowed to train with the first team while his matter is pending.
